Tatoos for Daz V4 and or Genesis

Can anyone direct me to a source to buy tats for V4? I know Renderosity sells INKED but it supposedly does not work on a Mac. It may not even work in Daz even on a pc for all I know. I could only find one product on the DAZ 3D site that has tattoos and I am hoping for a better selection. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you looked at http://www.daz3d.com/multi-layered-image-editor ?

There should be Tattoos around for it, such as at ShareCG:

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/33270/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/LIE-preset-for-Most-Digital-Tiger-Dragon-Tattoos

Look at that bundle and see if you can create your own as well.

Whenever I use LIE, I use it to great effect, as I explained here at:

It seems the Layer Image Editor is for DAZ 3 or earlier (?). Is that correct? I use DAZ 4.5 Pro (on a Mac). Also, can you tell me more about LIE. It appears to be something I would join and then share content (?), altho the Wound Pack is a content item sold at DAZ (I think??). Thanks for your assistance.

LIE is built into DS4Pro -- in the Surfaces tab, right-click on the map to launch it.

Thanks. Found it. Now what? I hate to reveal the depth of my ignorance here, but can you direct me to a resource or tutorial that explains how to use the LIE?

I went looking for this info and didn't find it. I am glad you corrected this, I would feel bad if someone purchased it without need.

Start with these. Take into account the differences between the older DAZ Studio version used in the videos and the 4.5 version.

adamr001 has this tutorial, Tutorial: Creating LIE Presets:

It is on the old forum so you will have to get the images yourself, like this:

the best way to use LIE is simply to play with it. HOWEVER, you need to remember, LIE will NOT rescale any image automatically.

If two texture maps are not the same size, but use the same UVS, you must apply a scale to one or the other to get them to match.

Say you have a map that is 4000x4000 pixels and are applying an overlay of one 2000x2000 pixels. You must scale the first one down by 50% or scale up the second by 200%.

But you can also overlay an image that is smaller for say, a tatoo and place it where you want it. Would advise you to be careful with this as stretching will affect that image, and try to apply say, a tatoo onto the UV Map instead, and match the pixels of the texture map you are using.

If you have a texture map that is 4096x4096, and are overlaying a texture that is 3500x3500, divide 4096/3500 to get your scale for the second map. In this case: 1.1702. Scale your 3500x3500 map by 117.02% to match them.

The lie is a very, very POWERFUL tool. You can apply makeup (there's actually a product that does that in the LIE), tattoos, scars, change skin tones by combining two different skin textures, etc... you can even apply freckles to a texture that has no freckles. You can give a texture tan lines. The posibilities are endless.

And it isn't just for texture maps...

Displacement maps...there's a couple of products that add more details by using it to add displacement.

Transparency maps...add in rips, tears, holes, etc...

    Bump maps...same as displacement

Basically any image map can have a layer added to it by LIE. Plus more than one layer can be added.

This thread definitely has my interest. How well would the LIE work in placing a tattoo onto a figure's back, particularly a full-back tattoo that spans both sides of the seam-line? The only other option I have is applying the tattoo directly to the skin texture in Photoshop with no guarantee that the two halves would line up.

you will actually have to use your uvmap to place it. there is no short cut when putting anything across seams. You save your tattoo as a PNG with Alpha Channel to apply it, of course, onto any existing skin texture via the LIE.

If you are custom designing a Tattoo, or perhaps tracing one, I'd use XARA or Serif Draw (or adobe illustriouspaythroughthenoseforcrapator) to do this with Vectors. I've found it to be easier to be precise using vectors rather than a paint program.
