Can't Find Product in Content Library

I manually installed a product from another vendor which uses the .duf format. According to the README, these files are found in the 'Poser Format' section of the Content Library. When I looked in the folders for this product in the 'Poser Format' section of the content library no files are visible. The scene is supposed to be located in Poser Format/Props/vendors name/product name but is not visible in this folder.

I've searched for this product in the 'DAZ Studio Formats' section of the library and can't find it anywhere. I've run a search using the product name but nothing comes up. When I look in my runtime all the .duf (and associated) files for this product are installed correctly. I just can't seem to find them in the contents folder.

I've emailed the vendor but wondered if anyone here could help?

DUF files will not be seen in the Content Library if they are installed in the Runtime folder, it is for Poser content only, and DUF files are DAZ Studio native content.

The scene is supposed to be located in Poser Format/Props/vendors name/product name but is not visible in this folder.

Remove what you installed into the Runtime folder, and install instead to the 'Props' folder one level up from Runtime, then it will appear in DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Props

The only thing that should be in the Runtime folder may be the textures, which are installed to Runtime/Textures....

Thanks for your reply. I moved the DUF file from the Runtime to the 'Props' folder as advised. The product now shows up in my Contents Folder. But when trying to load the DUF file I get a message that DS can't locate the OBJ file in the Runtime/Geometries folder. The OBJ file is in that folder! Does the OBJ need to be in a different folder or has the vendor made a mess of the file structure?

It looks like the vendor has messed up a bit.

If you are loading a DUF file from the DAZ Studio Formats area, it normally doesn't need the Runtime/Geometries as it keeps it's own geometry in the 'data' folder. If you move the Geometries folder back into the Runtime folder, it may well work, but is there a 'data' folder included in the ZIP file?

The product folders appear to be set up like a Poser hierarchy. Based on your advice about the DUF file I managed to work out that I needed to move the products OBJ from the Runtime folder and put it in the contents folder. Once I did this the product DUF file could then find the OBJ file. DS then asked me to locate the materials which were in the texture folder of my runtime folder. Everything then loaded ok. Phew! I've emailed the vendor so hopefully this product will be set up properly or include correct installation instructions in the future. Thanks for your help.

A native DS version shouldn't be using an OBJ for the geometry.

To put it bluntly this vendor doesn't know what they are doing and shouldn't be selling Studio native content. I personally would return the product and ask for a refund explaining the situation. But I am cranky old fart that thinks sloppy workmanship shouldn't be encouraged.

The vendor has replied and is making a DS 4.6 version apparently. The scene is quite specialised and I haven't found an alternative so far unfortunately otherwise I would have asked for a refund. There doesn't seem to be much quality control at the place I bought it.
