It's a pane now. Window > Panes > Environment. Then Active Type > Backdrop. Just as the surface pane, click the down arrow on the color to browse for an image.
Please remember to indicate what version of Studio you're working with (the question kinda told us at least), but also check in search as we have had a multitude of threads asking this same question. Thanks a ton. Why on earth would change this after all this time? What a pain in the butt. Sounds like lots of people got thrown by this change.
