I want to do like a fighting game. I want to dress up characters in daz and export them in FBX without having to worry about clothing in Unity like bodypartts poking out. Other programs and people make characters with tthe clothes attached so why can't DAZ? If i export a character with pants shoes hair and shirt as FBX and use it for only fighting kind of moves or running, will it be ok?
I'm already gonna use some DAZ product for Unity for Women because they wearing dresses but i don't want to waste a lot of time with that. it's a lenghty process.
So in general can you export clothes characters with clothes attached to skin?

Yes, there is a merge skeletons check box on the right of the FBX export options dialogue.
great. but that seems to only work for Pants shorts, shirts right? It woudln't work for dresses and skirts, would it? I'm almost certain that if they sit or something the skin would poke through . i'm gonna teset. I already tested guy with pants and shirt and shoes and it worked perfect
Hey richard. Question. Mmm, while it does look good( a dress) in Unity when the body shape does not have any morph....When you apply the full bodymorph in unity to your main character. the dress doesn't shape to that body shape. The body just pokes out of the dress. And the dress also has the same BOdy shape morph but you dial it and it just messes up the dress rather than look like conforming to the dress. Anyway to fix this? I was just hoping cause things like Megadaz (plug in to convert clothing to unity from daz) doesn't work. it's buggy. so there's no solution.
I'm sorry, I don't use Unity (or indeed anything else that seems to do a good job of importing FBX). (though - does the dress have the morph you used, or does it rely on AutoFollow?)
Of course it doesnt have the morph. That why i was/am trying to use a pluging for unity that wraps the dresses on any morph of your body. however it's not working. that's why i was thinking about giving up and just exporting characters from daz without the use of that extension.
I don't export to Unity but I do export Genesis with clothing to iClone with FBX with no issue.
For your purpose you need to save the clothing morph's auto-follow into FBX: try this: make the morphs into animation keys on the Timeline.
Fit the clothing to your Genesis of choice. Then set a actor/shape morph per key.
Original = 0 keyframe. Shape A = 2nd keyframe, Shape B = 3rd keyframe etc.
On the clothing item's own Timeline track you should also see the morph dials are triggered (to 50% or 100% etc)
Add a key every clothing morph change with Clothing selected in scene maanger, one key each to Shape A, Shape B etc.
Export FBX, Merge Skeleton. Check Animation and Morphs too.
Hopefully the clothing morphs will follow the character morph into Unity.
