Configuring DAZ Install Manager after hard drive crash

I did my best, but my newly downloaded files all ended up all dumped in the main folder of the newly installed Poser 10 instead of Users/Public/Public Documents/My DAZ 3D Library, which seemed to be how it used to work. So I have no My DAZ 3D library appearing in new Poser 10 libraries as I used to with Poser 9 before it got wiped out, and Windows 7 re-installed. I could take all those zips and re-dump them into the correct place, but they're not installed. There are far too many files to restore to just hand install them. Install Manager could be a huge help there. I hope my explanation is not confusing.

The My Daz 3D Library folder doesn't exist, is empty, or isn't appearing in Poser? You do need to add it to Poser as an external library folder if it's just the last of those.

The Application tab is to tell DIM where your programs are installed so it can install plug-ins for them.

  • Okay, I'm still working on this. The My Daz 3D Library folder is still there, but seems to be empty after the hard drive crash and re-installing Windows 7. DIM is downloading the files just fine, but dumping them into the main Poser 10 folder and not installing them, even though I have install after download checked. I tried going in there and installing one of the zip files myself "by hand" and it worked fine. Things like Creature Creator are too complex for that, and I need DIM.

As I said in rsponse to (I assume) your Renderosity thread - check the Downloads tab of the DIM preferences, I think you have set that to use the Poser folder. Check that you are installing the content, by checking the Install on Download box in the Ready to Download tab or by using the Ready to Install tab.

  • I checked the download tab as you said, but before I did that I tried "add library" and selected My DAZ 3D Library. Then the products showed up just fine, still in the wrong Poser 10 folder (!) Now it only recognizes the downloads in the Poser 10 folder as "My DAZ 3D library". If directed to "Documents" etc. where they are supposed to go, they won't work, and I have to move them to the "wrong" place. Poser 10. Then they show up. I seem to have things working for now, but strangely.

I could be suffering from fatigue, or these things wouldn't happen.

  • Everything seems to be working now, including DSON. Thanks for all the help!
