same here.
tried some different approaches -
change the bounds multiplier via slider quickly -> crash
change the bounds multiplier via slider slowly -> somtimes crash
change the bounds multiplier via typing in a value - value change > 0.5 -> chrash
- value change in 0.1 steps (and not so fast switching to next value) -> no crash
Using W10 with lots of RAM - latest DAZ version
You know, when I do this, I get a spinning beach ball for quite a while before the change happens. If I use the keyboard shortcut, such as cmd-8 or cmd-9, the change is instantaneous. Why is that? I supect it has something to do with the way the program is written (the Mac version, again).
I have some concerns, after reading the read me about how successful the claw hold I described above would be. I'd want to be able to do the morphing when both figures were posed, to see exactly where the finger and hand marks should go. Once the figures were zeroed out, and before they were returned to the pose, I might not get the angles as I want them. Still, I'd like to see some examples of this or of a person grabbing another person's arm (but not as a zero postion, but in a pose), and see how this turned out.
Fantastic product! I've been looking for something like this for quite sometime. Thanks you so much. The applications are endless!
Indeed, in theory.. Do you have any examples to show; a single render besides the promos won't make my itch go away - I really want this, but I've fallen for the potential, not convinced by tutorials and theories; my heart says YES, my eyes need more ????
I hear ya.
I got fed up of waiting and decided to try it out; I have credit and if I return it, it can go back on the credit I have.
Not really tested it yet, just the once to find it and see if it worked.
Hmm hope this doesn't die here.. Still looking for user experiences / samples :-)
Likewise, I bought it to try it out; basically, will I be able to do what I currently do in blender, and in much less time (as it is costing me cash, I need something in return)?
I'm still experimenting, but got distracted by a couple of other projects. It would be nice to see what others are doing with it, though.
I want this as well but I'm not sure if it will help with what I try to do in Daz -- kitbash outfits together. i.e: If I had an armor chest piece and I want to place an emblem design on top, so it appears that the design is embossed, could this help? I'm specifically interested if the design could confirm to the armor chest shape. I tried doing this in Blender using shrinkwrap but I found it too complicated. I attached an example.
Something like that might work as a normal map; pretty straighforward to bake normals in blender, either with blender render or cycles.
That's true, I've had some luck with normal maps. But over the year I've amassed a collection of cool 3D shapes that I'd love to try to super impose on my outfits :-)
Any idea when this will be fixed? The product is unusable for me at this time. 16GB of Ram, New CPU, 980 graphics card.... not a hardware issue.
Export them as an object, import into Blender - or wherever - and bake the normals. Start a seperate thread if needed then we don't hijack this one. :)
Hi ZombieLove! Thank you so much for your patience! While I haven't been able to recreate the exact issue, I think I have an idea now of what might be happening and am working on an update. I'll be sure to keey everyone update as soon as that new version is submitted to the store. In the meantime, could I trouble you for a favor? Could you start up a fresh session in DS, run the script, get the wrror, and then PM me your log.txt file? (usually in :users\name\appdata\roaming\daz3d\studio4). Just curious if I can spot any clues in there :-D
Yes, and I tried it in 4.9 with the same results.
Fast, always. Slow, sometimes. Incremental, always.
Hello All!
I have a special request for folks experiencing crashes when adjusting the bounds multipliers. I know this is a huge pain for you and I want very much to get it fixed. I'm still having trouble narrowing down the cause, unfortunately I just haven't been able to reproduce the error on either of my test computers. So I'm hoping someone who is experiencing the crash could do me the kindness of being a beta tester for a bit :-)
This would mean me pestering you with some questions (mostly simple stuff like what's your OS, can you send me your log.txt, would you mind trying this or that new test build for me). I know that is a VERY big request, so I totally understand if nobody has that kind of time free. I just want to get this one nipped in the bud (is that the right expression? :-P ), and I'd rather have some beta testing before publicly releasing a new build without knowing for sure if it's fixed the problem.
If you are interested, please feel free to PM me. THANK YOU!!! :-)
Hey Sim, did you get my message? I sent you my log file as asked. I am also willing to help you in any way I can. I'm a big fan of your work but this product is not useable for me with 4.8.
I got that problem too, but was unable to find my log to share it hehehe, my solution was to save the figure I was having conflicts, saved it as a character , loaded into the scene, reproject on it save it out again as character and then load it right into the original character and to transfer the morphs i needed, i alreadi made 300 scenes, was my only solution hahahaha
Got the message! PMing you back now :-)
Hi Magnusx! Can I bug you with a couple of questions?
What Windows/OSX version are you running? Does it happen with any object, or just some objects?
Thanks!!!
I sent you an email on my personal email. I am ready to test another version whenever you get a sec to look into it.
I upgraded my DAZ3D version to 4.9 to see if that fixes it and, while it makes it crash less quickly, it still crashes when I try to adjust the Y bounds restrictor. Any thoughts on this Sim?
Sorry for the long delay in updating this, I have been busy this past week.
After updating to 4.9 I was still getting crashes. I tried your suggestion about using simple objects (plane) divided a few times and then intersected with an object (in this case a ball). I had two more crashes but then suddenly... everything just works now. No crashes or anything (this is using the original script, not the beta you sent me that didn't work). So... apparently... if you are having issues in 4.8 upgrading to 4.9 seems to fix the issues.
Hopefully that helps everyone!
Thanks, I tried with latest studio and different objects and figures, but unfortunately it still crashes here with Studio 4.9.2.70.
Is there anything I should try?
Fabulous! That's exactly the kind of thing I wanted to do for years!
Hello gang! SimTenero, I'm having trouble getting Shape Reprojector to work... can you or anyone help: I'm using DA Palm Island in a scene. I'm Using Streetwear Sneakers (the LEFT one-- I chose these shoes because left and right are separate models!!) as SOURCE in Shape Reprojector. For RECEIVER I'm using the beach, so i can leave a sneaker-footprint in beach object: DA MAIN ISLAND. I use HIT PROJECTION & INWARD and otherwise the defaults. The sneaker is placed on the beach and arranged half way into the island object; the red boundary box is half above & half below the surface. When i click PROJECT, it begins to work and then at 16% I get a "NO OVERLAP" warning. OK-ing that is possible but nothing happens except the timer keeps counting but H O U R S later still at 16% and nothing. (AS much as 6.5 hours later in one case)
Posts here suggest a 1 poly or very low primitive will give this error/outcome so I checked; the DA MAIN ISLAND object in the set is 61,704 polys, it is not a simple flat plane but a modeled terrain. I've tried selecting the various materials one at a time, all, and none, for the INCLUDED MATERIALS under the receiver (DA MAIN ISLAND) but this makes no difference. I've tried raising and lowering the placement of the SOURCE sneaker obj relative to the receiver (just above surface, just slightly intruding, halfway bisected, almost fully beneath, completely under surface etc) and result is same Nothingburger.
I figured I was arranging things wrong or something so I found this forum and when I saw RGcincy's pillow/feet experiment saw I was doing basically the same thing and had done pretty the same as he'd done, excepting I'd used a scene object instead of a sphere primitive as receiver--- so I'm at a loss now as to what the trouble might be...
Any insights appreciated......
I love the idea and possibilities of this product, BTW!
Wow, how did I miss this? This could open up so many interesting possibilities with some creativity!
Although 61,704 polys sound like a big number, you need to realize that those polygons are spread through a rather big surface. Try to enable the wireframe view in the viewport and see if there really are any lines intersecting; as the Reprojector cannot work with subdivided meshes, if the terrain doesn't have enough resolution to capture the shape of the sneaker (quite likely) you will probably get better results using a d-former, or, if you are set on using the Reprojector, move the sneaker to a denser part of the ground (look for intersections). I hope that helps.
I think I just got this. What are the terms on usage of the output of this?
