Hey,
I am trying to do my 1st iRay render indoors so I changed the iRay Render setting to 'scene only' and added a light preset. However, it's rendering and the scene is black like there are no lights. Hints?

Tone Mapping. You will need to set the Tone Mapping to camera settings for an indoor scene. Change ISO rating to 400 and go from there with speed at 10 (sec) and aperture at 5.6.
Probably still not enough... but I don't like that shutter speed.
Since its all kind of relative, it might work.
OK, I will try. Thanks.
It doesn't really matter how slow the shutter speed is as DAZ doesn't are about camera shake :) It was just another way to let more light into the camera.
Which is why I said it was kind of relative. But if you are going for physical accuracy, a larger aperture would be more appropriate.
Well my Tonal Mapping was already turned on & I set the settings as suggested but no luck. I also set the F-Stop directly on the camera to 5.6 but I could find no where on the 'camera 1' settings to set the ISO to 400 which I found a bit wierd. I think maybe because the light preset I use gets stuck outside the Victorian Shoppes and not inside. So I need to zoom out I suppose, knowing my luck with DAZ, way, way, way out and then click & drag, click & drag, click & drag until I get the lights inside the Victoria Shoppe that I actually am using.
Now when I turned the Tonal Settings off then I began to get a very dark render that had the more reflective surfaces showing, mainly the native iRay surfaces on the characters. In this case no ISO to set on 'camera 1'. The surfaces on the Victorian Shoppes were mostly black. No big surprise the light preset was outside the room. I am going through with DAZ3D's and MecD's PBR presets and converting the shoppes to real PBR which should help make the 'camera' work more like a camera I guess. DAZ Studio can be a lot of work.
The f stop settings on the camera are only for setting DOF (Depth of Field) it doesn't affect the brightness of the render only the Tone Mapping settings under Render Settings will affect that. What lights are you using?
It's a light set called 'Neo Lights' it's from Neo Station:

I need to mostly drag the lights into the building I suppose.
Those lights will most likely not work well even on the inside of the building as it looks from the ad copy as if they are poser presets so would need plenty of adjustments
1 Light preset (P6)
That was going to my next question: what light preset.
You're going to need change your options there... its not going to work for you.
Thanks y'all. I will try Totallou's light preset suggestion next. I think P6 means Poser 6. I figured a huge indoor train depot would flood with light. My computer is 5 years old so it creeks to try these out.
The lights may still not work in iray.
I am teaching myself how to use point, spot, and other lighting sources because of a another render I'm doing...howfully it will work in that scene I started too. Thanks for the heads up.
