Can I export an OBJ that does not lose its pose out of Carrara 7P? or 8?

Any mesh that you export as an OBJ will export as it is at the time, so no it wont lose the pose.

OBJ does not carry any rigging information, so you will not be able to repose it in any other application.

If it is a Poser type figure or boned figure, you need to select an option (something liked "Skinned" - can't remember exactly) in the export dialogue and that then saves the current state, as opposed to the default figure shape.

"Export Obj with Morphs and skinning", yep, that was it, thanks!

Yep, that's the one! Glad you found it OK from my lame description...

My applologies, to both PhilW and 3doutlaw.

I had no idea that Carrara had a different way of saving an OBJ than DS4 or other similar programs. I suppose it is not so different really, DS asks to save maps to a folder, and I think Carrara does that too, and also preserving the morphs.

I will leave Carrara to the Carrara users in the future :)

    Thank you.
