Daz stopped opening

After working fine aerlier today, DS will not open. It goes to the point where "Powerpose Tools loaded" comes up on screen and then stops. I have tried re-downloading Daz and it appears to download but then does not open (I assume it has downloaded but with the downloader it is not easy to see what is happen). I am on Max OSX el Capitan.

If it's a setting or content issue then reinstalling the application won't help. I think the Mac keeps the log file in ~/Application Support/DAz 3D/Studio - try opening that in a text editor and see where it ends.

  • Here is the last part of the log. It seems to be at the spotrender tool. (this is something I don't use- can I remove it to help?

Next thing to load, since they appear to go alphabetically, would be the Texture Atlas. However, it's possible that the log is lagging slightly so it may be that the issue is the next step - which in mine is the Author Information settings by the look of it. It may be worth checking your folder permissions. It may also be worth taking the .dsx folders that are in the same folder as the log and moving them to another folder, then trying to launch DS - that will reset the layout and UI to the default (actually, it may be worth trying to remove the customaactions.dsx fiel first as I should think that has the highest probability of containing some kind of bad reference).

  • Thanks.

I have moved the dsx files and there is no change. Not quite sure what you mean about folder permissions, sorry. The permissions for DS is (for me) read and write. Can I get at the texture atlas etc to do something with it?

I was thinking that if, as the log suggests, DS is trying to write something after the plug-in loading step it might be being blcoked and that might cause it to fail to load. Reisntalling should ahve fixed any broken plug-ins but you could try a complete unisntall of DS and all plug-ins, then delete the application folder (if it's still there) before reinstalling..

  • Thanks for the advise. I have managed to sort it. I went through all plugins etc that may be an issue and found a file from an old version of Reality that I had got rid of. I deleted this Relaity file and since then it has opened fine. Oddly the format of the viewprt had gone back to factory settings.

Thank you for all the help.

Yes, if the .dsx files were not restored tot he folder with the log then your interface and actions will have been reset.
