Orientation of posed figures and slanted objects

When you put a figure into a pose where the torso or pelvis are at an angle, the x, y and z translation thing goes out alignment with everything else, and it is hard to position the figure (/item) in the scene, since it moves on diagonals. Is there a way of re-aligning the axis so that they are square with everything else, but so that the figure remains in the desired pose at the right angle?

If you are using DAZ Studio:
Not sure if this is what you want, but in the Tool Settings pane, you can change the dropdown to work in worldspace vs. object space. So if the object is tilted but the floor is flat, you could still move the object horizontally along the floor.
I've positioned a figure in such a way thar the box it draws around the figure, when the whole figure is selected, appears on a diagonal angle. This means that when I try to rotate the figure on the Y axis, in parameters, desiring to have it face the opposite direction, it instead ends up upside down. I want it so that the box around the figure is in line with everything else in the scene, not on the diagonal in line with the tilt of the figure's pelvis, which seems to be the default.
I could not see 'tool settings' anywhere.
Window>Panes(Tabs)>Tool Settings
Then what? I can't see anything to orientate the box around the selected posed figure so that it is no longer on a diagonal.
It sounds to me you are
1. using the Universal Tool gizmo to move things around
2. the Universal Tool gizmo is likely in Local coordinate mode, that's why after some Y rotation your selection tool's orientation is no longer aligned to the scene's space, also known as WORLD space.
That's why sriesch asked you to use Tool settings to change your tool worldspace.
More specifically, grab the Universal Tool, in Tool Settings, pick Use World Coordinate.
But if you mean you want to reorientate the bounding box's relationship to actual figure mesh after posing, that's another matter.
In case that is not what you ask for, a pic explaning your issue woulb be clearer
