reposition manipulaton move, rotate handles etc

Hi
I'm sure this as been asked before but couldnt track it down. Is there a way to reposition the handles you get with such things as move and rotate etc. I have loaded a figure ( it’s a free one not daz) which seems to work ok but and the handles are miles away from the figure.

No, the handles appear at the selected node's centre point (well, you can move the centre point but that may have undesirable consequences). Usually if a figure is offset from its centre point that's because the root bone (the hip on a human) has been translated - zeroing those transaltions and moving via the figure will avoid that issue (as will working with the root bone and ignoring the location of the figure node)..
