clothing won't work

I have downloaded the Aiko 6 starter pack. I'm trying to put on an "exotic top" , but it won't appear on my screen. I tried saving and then reloading the program, but that didn't work.

  • What do you mean by "Exotic Top"? I do not see an item called like that in the Starter Pack...

Be aware that clothing items are made for specific base figures. Aiko 6 is from the Genesis 2 Female line - so the only clothes you can automatically put on her are Genesis 2 Female ones.

If your "Exotic Top" is not a Genesis 2 Female product - it might require more work to put on, depending on who its originally made for.

In case it is a Genesis 2 Female product though - make sure you've selected the Aiko 6 model in the scene before loading the clothes in.

  • I suspect you are trying to load a material setting - that requires that the basic model be loaded and selected first, all it does is change the appearance (textures and settings) of the existing model.

Or they picked up a unimesh fit version of the clothes which still requires the original clothing

(I just tried a few times to load a pair of Bad Boy shorts from the Bad Boy Unimesh fits, then realized I don't have the original Bad boy set yet)

Usually that will give a missing file error, though, whereas applying a preset (as long as something is selected) won't.

Just thought I might mention it as I wasn't getting any message, in fact I think the loading window popped up with a progress bar that filled to 100%, then just dissapeared and nothing happened. Not 100% sure on the progress bar, but I am 100% sure that no error popped up.

Which rather confirms that it is a materials file, not the model itself. Where are you loading it from?

I don't really ever use the smart content anymore, it was from my product library under "B" for Bad Boy

And looking for the item I was attempting to load I see it was a "+shape" (I knew I wasn't attempting to load a material) I just hadn't realized that the unimesh fits rely on the original package, I thought they were 2 seperate things. But now that I think about it, I have both Domino for V4 and Domino unimesh fits and they work independently from eachother...

  • Unimesh sets, which are generally for fourth generation figures so nothing to do with Aiko 6, are an extra CR2 (figure) file with morphs, but they don't have the original OBJ file. Bad Boy is a Michael 4 set http://www.daz3d.com/bad-boy-for-m4 and http://www.daz3d.com/bad-boy-m4-unimesh-fits . If you have the latter and not the former then trying to load the clothing will throw an error anout the missing OBJ.
