I just ran the calculations for your mac mini's and if they draw 60 watt's each then five of them would cost me $1.80/day to run. What CPU do you have in your mac mini's? So 10 days of rendering would cost me $18, a little less then half what the PC's I'm using now would use.

I checked the specs once again, each draws 85 watts at full load. My mistake. Mine is 2.7ghz quad core i7.

So that would be $2.76 per day for five of them. (85watt * 24hour * 5computers) / 1000 is the formula for how many kilowatt's the computers use in a day. It should be noted that my renderfarm is not new, and predates your mac mini. :) They are Q6600 quad core systems with desktop power supplies. I didn't put big power supplies into them, but it was larger than your 85watt ones.

how did you get DS to export sequenced RIB files?

DS didn't, I use iwatch/inotify under Linux to watch the output directory. As soon as the RIB is written it is renamed to another location and queued for rendering. OSX has similar features, and JNotify/FileMon under windows will do similar duties.
