Iray Worlds question

I was putting together a scene with Iray World Iray SkyDome again today.  In general I like it, but positioning the Sun uses some odd and confusing notation.  Before sitting down and running through the possibilities with test renders has anyone written up a guide?

yes setting the suns location is a pain! I have started using the Sun Dial.

In render settings go to presets you will see the Sun Dial set.

the Sun Dial is just a line with an arrow at the end.the arrow sets the suns location so setting the location is very fast

  • I don't think the sundial works with Iray Worlds..  you need the sun and sky environment mode

No, Iray Worlds has it's own sun and is best in 'scene only' mode.

I just experiment; put some simple object, select the sun, go to 'pose' and start clicking until it looks right.

I also find I generally want the sun to be brighter than default.
