Viewport & Other Problems!

About 3 days ago after downloading some environments and trying them out, my viewport turned white but was still fully functional. Today after downloading 8 more products I found that the viewport has now just vanished! The Aux Viewport also shows nothing. If I load a character it shows in Scene, but if I click on Aux Viewport it still only shows the Scene contents. Re the main viewport, if I click on Render Library and back again, the Render Library is still in the viewport.

Other Issues:

One of the products I downloaded a few days ago was First Bastion's Rolling Plains. The Mixed Grass and Rolling Sand mats load okay, but nothing at all happens/appears when I try to load Rolling Footsteps. ... I've tried every variation of loading the scene and mats, but the Footsteps never manifest.

Re one of today's purchases - which I can't test out due to now having no viewport! - all I see of Mech 4 Unshaven are the long beards. Should all of the other morphs appear in the Content Library as mats? Or are they acheived via pose controls?

Two other non DS 4.9 problems I always have when ordering a set of products is that I pay via PayPal but once I'm on Paypal and the costs show up, the order then fails and I get a message that there's nothing in my basket! I have to keep going back to the beginning - though sometimes I also get logged out which a baffler - until I refind the FULL basket and put the purchase through until it finally takes. Then once it's done and I try to use the Install Manager it never works until I re-download it and overwrite the old one - but it's every time I try to download. It makes purchasing very irksome, and I'm sure Daz sales don't want that! Does anyone else have therse problems?

  • Update on the above! I've solved the Unshaven problem, as after switching off DS 4.9 and re-oppening, my viewport returned back to anormal: ie: it's back again, but it's still white. How do I get it to go back to grey again?

  • Window>Style>Customise Style..., chaneg the colour under 6. Viewports

  • Thank you, Richard. Sorted!

Unfortunately another problem has developed - or actually two as one of the products I purchased (as mentioned above) has vanished. After downloading it, it did appear in full, but after switiching off and then back on again later I can only find the title under "Products" but nothing appears other than the title. When I load Smart Content I receive the message that that product (and only that product) can't be found. I'll need to email Daz about that, and ditto probably the more dire problem which is:

My "Paramaeters" tab has vanished! In the above screenshot in the right hand panel the top tab (in the bottom half) is "Shaping", but no other tab appears after that. I've tried loading various scenes and scene subsets but the Parameters tab won't appear on any. Something clearly went wrong on either the last or both of the last two downloads of newly purchased products, but I think only technical support can help me.

You can go to Windoiw > Panes > Parameters to reopen the Parameters pane and dock it where you want it.

Thanks, Fixmypcmike, but there seems to be nothing in the menus which bring the Parameters tab back. EG: I go to Window > Panes > Parameters and in the left of that pane/window there's only "Select an Item", while the menu in the top right corner is also predominantly concered with items in the scene (such as under Restore there are "restore figure", etc, commands). Other than that there is "make pane undockable" and "make pane group undockable", but none of these restore the parameters tab.

PS: wen using "Select an Item" I can now at least alter the parameters of characters and items in the scene, which is a great relief, but I still need the Parameters tab immediately accessible in the bottom right of the screen (it should appear above Shaping in the screenshot in my earlier comment above).

  • Where is Select an item appearing? That could be the Parameters pane with nothing selected in the scene.

  • Window > Panes > Parameters. Then under Parameters on the left is Select an Item. Selecting an item brings up the full Paremters menus for the item. But I need Paraemters immediately accessible in the bottom right of the main screen along with Surfaces, Shaping, etc. The list of tabs should be: Cameras Lights Surfaces Shaping Parameters, but the Parameters tab has just vanished.

  • If you don't have thre make undockable option checked then drag the tab of the Parameters pane and drop it on top of the other tabs in the group you want to add it to - it will then appear at the bottom or right of the group.

OR:-  right-click an empty area of the tab bar for the pane group you want a pane in and choose Add Pane > %PaneLabel%.

  • Richard Haseltine ~ thanks! I managed to do that by sheer fluke last night as I tried maneuvering the parameters pane. It's still not ideal, but I was able to continue with a major project which was a major relief.

Chohole ~ thanks! The problem I've had trying that just now is that depending in which blank area one clicks, there are 3 different menus which can appear. I managed to get the "Add Pane" once in probably 30-40 right clicks, but as in the process I'd accidentally removed Shaping, I opted to put that back first! My problem re the right clicking is that I have DS 4.9 up on a small laptop, so finding blank areas is difficult as my cursor ends up either selecting the viewport or one of the tabs - which is how I lost Shaping. But I at least now know that there is a menu which can be found - probably by fluke by me in the near future - which can put all tabs back in the way I prefer.

Please consider this issue now solved as I can happily work with things as are. Also Technical Help is now helping me with 4 other application and product glitches which have occurred during my last two downloads of purchases.

you dont need an empty space to place a pane. Just open the needed pane via "windows/ panes / for example: Lights

After the pane opens in your workplace, left mouseclick and hold on the pane name !! ( here Lights) and move your mousecurser directly on any pane already existing where the new pane should be placed. It will appear on its right side and does not remove anything
