DS keeps asking me to log in
I have updated my DS to the latest and keep getting the request to log in so I can use smart content (and I don't even use that part :p). The message box claims that my machine configuration has changed, every time.
Does DS consider that a change in my network settings qualifies as a change of configuration of my pc? My connection is on a vpn, would that be enough to trigger this? If so, there might be something to improve there...

I get this too - every time I open 4.9. I was told it was because I also have 4.8 installed and that was changing the configuration. However, I haven't opened 4.8 in quite a while, but 4.9 still asks me to log in. More annoyingly, it never remembers my pw, so I have to enter it every time.
As mac says, if you run an older version and a newer (beta and release) that can cause conflicts, but that has to be version 4.9.x as far as I know (4.8 shouldn't touch the connect-related stuff). I don't know what the validation system looks at (other than GPU, I had to revalidate after I upgraded), I'm not sure if a VPN could ne an issue. Changing IP shouldn't cause a problem - I had my router disconnected last night as there was distant thunder rumbling around, and DS started OK this morning.
I'll experiment a bit with the vpn settings and see if it sets it off, then I'll let you know. I don't have any other version than 4.9 and only one occurrence of it on my system.
Which version? Either 4.9.0.something or 4.9.1.something were very sensitive and prone to throwing out spurious validation failures - that was changed in later builds, and that change is why mixing an older version and a newer is guaranteed to throw a validation failure when switching between them.
