Materials not rendering correctly

Hi there,

I just bought the Uber+ Iray Antique and did a quick render on one of my objects.

My render on the right has a smooth metal surface and does not show scratches like the one from the product (left image).

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thank you!

Which of the Shaders did you apply to your surface, and are you using Iray as your rener engine?

I used BattleWorn Iron on the cube and Scratch Iron on the sphere

    That's my guess, too.

@SimonJM, scorpio and mjc1016:  Thank you for your quick replies.wink

You were correct.  The object was not UV mapped.  It works fine now after I added a UV map.

    Next questions:

    -  Do the materials work only if the objects are UV mapped?

    - Is there a way to apply the materials onto a non-UV  mapped object and resize them to fit the object?

    Thanks!

Not necessarily...but the cases where they will work without UV unwrapping are few and far between.

Yes, but not easily...you, at least, need special shaders for 3Delight (not sure if there is a 'projection shader' for Iray or not).

It seems quite complicated.  But thanks for your reply, mjc1016.  Have a great week!
