Genesis 3. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

I am grossly dissapointed in the Genesis3 Figures. For something that is supposed to be the next generation and advancement from the previous, Genesis 3 falls way short of that. In fact I would call it a step backwards. Not a step forward. The skeletal controls for G3 are vastly limited compared to G2. Especially in the hands and feet, but also in almost every joint in the arms and legs. Compared to the detailed work I have done with G2F, G3F could not even come close and is completely useless to me and the level of detail I work in.

Sure, there are many improvements in many materials and content for G3, but what good is that if the basic skelatal controls for the base figure are not workable. And very few of the new products coming out for G3 are not compatible with G2. So it looks like my days for adding more variety to my G2 work are numbered as new G3 material continues to roll out for a base figure that is useless. I have spent a lot of money here on products and desire to spend more. But I will not waste another dime on anything for G3.

G3 is a perfect example of "fixing something that is not broken".....and pushing a perfect product....off the shelf for one that is less capable.

  • G3 has twist bones in the skeleton in addition to the normal bones for an increase in flexibility in posing the figure. It also has the ability to have the mesh density increased over the base mesh resolution to improve realism/believability to the figures.

But this is incorrect. G3 has more control than G2, including many finger and toe bones; it also has a bone for the heel. Also it has the facial rig, instead of morphs for more control over emotion dials, including altering them on the fly if you don't like the resulting expression.

  • Moved to Technical Help as it seems to be a usage issue, and certainly isn't a Product Suggestion.

I think G3 is better for games. It have it's own twist bones that we can control by scripts or animations. Also bones for face is better for games.

Good point is also that we can use single drawcall for drawing full body. With G2 we had to split body or use decimation.
