DS4.8 Matte/plastic surface preview issue

I'm using 4.8
if I have a change a "plastic" surface setting on model the display port to "matte" the visual representation of the object surface remains "visually" whatever it was represented as when it us"plastic"
my gpu is a lowly GTS250 but the drivers are up-to-date.
Windows 7 64 bit
in previous builds this did not happen.

If you have Show Hidden toggled for the Surface pane you can see that Matte hides the specular related channels but doesn't change any of their settings. Previous versions of Studio must have known to 'zero' the info when sending to display.
