Some Shader Sets are missing from Surfaces pane - fixable?
I've bought three shader sets. All are relatively recent, with SKUs of 30,000 or above:
- Bone and Fantasy Scale Iray Shaders
- DG Iray Surface Builder - Leather Suede Velvet - Shaders and Merchant Resource
- DG Iray Surface Builder - Cotton Denim Wool - Shaders and Merchant Resource
The good: all three appear in Content Library > Shader Presets as they should.
The bad: only one of them (Cotton Denim Wool) appears in Surfaces > Shader Sets. I find that pane much more convenient than searching through Content Library.
The ugly: two months ago I submitted a help ticket for one of the broken packages. Support staff identified it as a metadata problem and submitted a bug report, but it's still unresolved two months later. I guess I'll report the other broken package, but my hopes aren't high.
Is there some way for me to force those packages to appear in Surfaces > Shader Sets? I don't mind troubleshooting XML files and the like if that's needed.

You could just add them to the categories - drag and drop from the Content Library to Smart Content, or right-click on a folder and Create a category From
@Michael Efrem
Doesn't your library have a "Shader Presets" category? See attached.
Thanks for your suggestions Richard and faskbike1.
Everything appears in Content Library, but half are in Daz Connect and half are in My DAZ 3D Library. And even with Smart Content or Categories, the shaders are mixed in the big master tree with everything else.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding. I assumed Surfaces > Presets was meant to address that problem. When I'm doing surface work, instead of clicking and searching through all my content for scattered materials/shaders, it looks like a convenient place where they're all together.
But is Surfaces > Presets not meant for... well, for all surface presets? Or is it meant for that, but not well supported by content creators?
I'm just hoping there's a way to get all (or most) of my shaders to appear in that one convenient tab.
Surfaces>Presets tab should show materials and shader presets that are tagged as such in the Content Management System.
Thanks.
So I guess my question is: am I able to edit the CMS somehow to add those if the author forgot to, as seems to be the case for a couple of package that I bought? Is there documentation or a tutorial somewhere about this?
Or if the author forgets, am I out of luck (short of submitting a help ticket).
That should be done, anyway...that way the needed metadata can be added to the package and everyone can benefit.
Will do, for the greater good.
I submitted a ticket for one of the two broken packages 2 months ago; no luck. I suppose it depends on whether the content author is motivated and knowledgable enough. I'll submit one for the other package (different author).
And if there's no help available about adding metadata to the CMS, maybe I'll see what I can figure out about PostgreSQL -- understanding there's a risk of breaking things.
For others who are experiencing similar issues with these and other surface/shader packages --
I just pinged support about my unresolved ticket and was told that this turned out to be not a problem with the package metadata, but a software issue.
The issue has been resolved in "the current beta". The support person couldn't tell whether it's a public or private beta, but said the issue will be fixed with the next general release.
The 'current' beta should be the one available for download...4.9.3.71.

Confirmed: the current public beta 4.9.3.71 resolves this problem, so it must have been a bug rather than a metadata issue.
Surfaces > Presets > Shader Sets is now full of tools.
Sweet!
