If we can't visit Rio during COVID, this is the next best thing:

This thread is a great resource. I'm glad people keep it alive in the forum.
Cheers!

This shader looks like it can turn any boring block into a detailed building. There are quite a few untextured city models out there that it could use.

Thanks for the heads up. I purchased them but haven't had a chance to give them a try yet. The concept is intriguing.
My city isn't so tidy.
Reminds me of the shanty town in Dying Light. Absolutely luv'd that Game.
Looks good and has great character! How did you create it?
It's based on the Slum City pack from CgTrader. It's taken a LOT of work to get it moved into Daz. I had to reassign new shaders and textures to thousands of objects. I still have yet to finish the ground ad you can see it is a simple plane with a tiled texture. I'm sculpting a new terrain in Unity with a custom paint layer to add traffic through dried mud details.
@charles Hope you share updates as they come along
I'd love to see some ground level renders of that shanty town. It looks very interesting from above.

Went ahead and got the City Building Shaders Vol1. Combined it with Streets to make this first trial image. The building is a basic cube with one division per side. I used the Geometry Editor to make each side of the cube its own surface so I could tile the sides to match their width.
And in case you missed it, ShaaraMuse3D has a prop-based product with similar vibes, Modular 3D Kits: High Rise Vistas, over at the Other Site.
Looks nice, but one see very repeated pattern on the windows.
I have a similar shader for Unity, which also simulates interiors look from outside and can randomize its placement.
I guess, it will be not so easy to create something similar for Daz Studio.
What's the background/HDRI used in this promo, since the contents don't mention anything about it?

Not too sure - unless I am just failing at Google today I can't seem to find Johannesburg skyline images on such a clear day. Might be heavily edited tho?
Anyway, if you want to replicate this at sunset you can use polyhaven.com/a/sunset_jhbcentral
That was my thought too, an HDRI of a city. Good job identifying the city
I'm only surprised the promos didn't feature someone falling out of the windows.

Have they defenestrated someone recently? (Love that word )
There's an ongoing count.
