In case someone didn't get it, that mixture is called a "screwdriver".

LMAO! Funny how intended deletion of threads end up NOT being deserted at all. In which case meaning the thread can no longer be deleted.

Well I didn't get it either, but I don't remember much about cocktails anyway (haven't been drinking alcohol for so long that I've forgotten most of that stuff). The only ones I remember are screwdriver and lomumba, and then I know that 007 want's his martini stirred, not shaken. :)

Yep going on 11 years since I had a single drop of booze but I did train and work as a silver service waiter and barman for some years.

All this talk about screwdrivers reminds me of a friend I had some years back, who worked as a driver for the prison service.

If anyone asked him what he did for a living he would say he was a Screwdriver.

I also haven't had an alcoholic beverage in 11+ years also. I can remember my last drink. It was a Jack & Coke at a neighborhood bar that the wife and I walked to for the first and only time. The next day I had a hangover from one drink and I said that's it, no more for me.

My dad died from drinking all his life and his liver give out. That may have had something to do with it. I also had several DUI's once they started to give breathalyzers if they were suspicious in any way. Before breathalyzers I would always pass the sobriety tests. I could even say the alphabet backwards skipping every third letter but including all vowels...lol. I could handle my liquor, except for all the fights, driving while asleep, crying on the bar, falling into walls and waking up with wet pants. Other than those things I never had a problem with alcohol.

I am pleading the fifth. Oh darn we don't have that over here....instead I will say that if I hadn't stopped when I did my liver would given me trouble by now. I had some blood tests 10 years ago looking at the liver and all my enzymes were all over the place. Now they are all working as they should

    Favorite lines about drinking....

I do not have a drinking problem, I drink, I get drunk, I fall down. No problem.
I'm a very social drinker, I only drink in groups of one or more.
I never have a drink before 5pm, thank goodness it's 5pm some where.

I will be 16 years clean of hard liquor this coming birthday. I still drink me a few beers but I have a problem with hard stuff.

Don't drink due to diabetes. Gave it up years before as even a small amount of beer or wine would give me an instant migraine.
A few years later blood-work found the diabetes. Then I realized I had been diabetic for years.

    Favorite line about drinking:
I don't drink anymore. I don't drink any less, either.

I gave up excessive drinking when I finally figured out I didn't get much stupider when I was drunk... thus I really never could use the excuse... "well, I was drunk at the time so"... I'm not bragging that I have a high tolerance for alcohol, I'm just saying I normally behave the way others do when they are drunk... I don't say anything more "shocking", do anything more dangerous or stupid, run naked through convents more often or do any of the other things people tend to do when they drink too much. I'd just wake up the next day laying in an alley on top of a broken unicycle wearing a french maid outfit and hugging an equally drunken kangaroo... I mean where is the fun in that? Besides its so expensive now and apparently zoos now have all sorts of rules about unicycles and animal endangerment.
A nice bunch of beers or some tequila... or rum drink... rum is good, a right proper pirate drink... hmm... ? Oh yeah, anyway... a nice bit of something here and there is just fine every now and then.
I wonder whatever happened to that kangaroo....?
