Setting a HRDI background image for a Sun-Sky iRay Render

OK, I bought the whole lot of the Deco / South Beach Deco sets and now I am trying a render in iRay with Sun-Sky at the GPS Coordinates of South Miami Beach. I really like the way the light is coming into the big bay window but outside it is just a bright sky with a grey ground.

I have a HRDI of a pretty good tropical beach, although it's really more tropical than Miami I want to use it as the background seen out the window. How do I keep the iRay Sun-Sky rendering but set the background to be this tropical beach HRDI I have?

Thanks.

It's one or the other -- Sun/Sky or HDRi.

Well, that's a bummer. Can I set a regular png or jpg background with Sun-Sky HRDI?

Depending on the size of the area you could try a backdrop, or a cove-style cyclorama, or something. The trick would be to convert the spherical projection of the HDRi into a flat projection for a backdrop or cove.

I am trying the Surfer Cyclorama and I've yet to try to render but it's looking better than no backdrop at all so far. I may switch to the tropical beach HRDI freebie if that doesn't work.

    Thanks.

I scaled the Surfer Cyclorama to fill the bay window but half the sand on the beach is lit and the other half is not because the horizon on the cyclorama is acting like a wall. :-(

The unlit part of the cyclorama does have a nice stormy look though.
