3Delight error messages

Hello. I'm a new user here and I've been tearing my hair out over this problem. I'm using 3Delight instead of Iray at the moment until I upgrade my RAM. I'm trying to render an image (obviously), and I get the following error messages when I start rendering :

3Delight message #147 (Severity 2): R2077: trying to access element 0 of array 'f' of size 0, run-time check failed (line 423 of file stdin) (in shader 'brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Displacement' on object 'shapematerial_Torso_8407_15e6')

Now, I don't know what these all mean and whether they can be ignored or not. This wouldn't be a problem if the render didn't take hours. Before the problem started, I could render in twenty minutes tops with 3Delight. Now, it's been going for two hours, and I don't want to wait a lot since this is just a light, personal render. Also, I left the render on overnight yesterday and the skin came out all wrinkled and weird. I didn't save it so I can't show you, and I don't know if it's linked to the problem or not. Oh, and what's weird is that I rendered at least ten images with 3Delight no problem. It seems to have started when I changed the eye colour, but I don't know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ; as of right now, I can't really render.

Thanks in advance !

  • Stop the render, it does look as if a Shader Mixer shader has failed to compile correctly (though it's an unusual set of symptoms). Open the Preferences dialogue (Edit>Preferences for Windows, DAZ Studio>Preferences for the Mac) and hold down the ctrl(Win)/cmd(Mac) key while you click on the ... button next to the Temporary Files path - this will open a file system window to that location. Now double-click the Temp folder, then in that the Brickyard folder, and delete everything it contains. Now try rendering again.

I'm assuming you meant the "shaders" folder inside "temp". I did, and the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks a lot ! There's still a severity 1 error, but I'm pretty sure I can ignore it.

  • Sorry, yes - I forgot the Shaders folder before the Brickyard folder. Deelting the contents of the Brickyard folder forces DS to recompile the Shader Mixer-created shaders in use, which is usually all that is needed.

  • Yup. I also deleted some unused figures from the scene. That seemed to clog up a lot of space.
