Geez, he's good.
Stunning:)
Could you give me some advice, please?
I haven't bought any of Howies scenes because I keep reading about the long render times and am afraid they won't even complete on my single-core 2.8Ghz, 3 gig machine. The only scene that has ever brought my machine down is the free Howies Snow Scene. After removing the displacement from the snow, the renders do complete.
For something like this, I wouldn't mind long render times - overnight - as long as I know it would eventually complete.
What think ye - Worth getting, or a total no-no for me?
The image in the link below was done on a computer with Vista 32bit and 3Gb RAM. It was a quad core AMD, but I set it up on a P4 Laptop with 2Gb of RAM, and was able to complete lower quality/size test renders on the laptop. Your computer should be able to handle Secret Lake (definitely read the included pdf), but it will take a while to render.

I love Howie's nature scenes. He gets everything right :-) the Light, the viewing angle and the colors.
That's something I would love to master, though the light settings and I don't get along very well - either too bright or too dark or too pale.
Thanks for the response, dustrider. Very encouraging - if there's anything i'd buy it would be Howies scenes:)
Gread render, BTW.
Roygee, if you are from the US, the cost for an upgrade is 150$, to a Phenom x6 with mobo and 8GB RAM and a t-shirt :)
Since it overclocks to 4Ghz you get 24GHz render power compared to the 3 you have now, 8x improvement, though some work to assemble and overclock...

So pretty.
If only....the Gnomes of Zurich have decided that where I live we pay 8.5 times what you guys in the States do:)
One day the gods of the Lotto will smile on me....:)
Here are some good swiss CPU prices, only 20% higher than USA:

Considering it is >6x faster than what you have and it renders anything in Carrara, it is a good deal.
This is going in my cart as soon as it is released. I love his products.
Hey all, I just posted some more previews of this scene in the commons...

Thanks for the kind comments so far. :)
Howie, you are the one I aspire to whenever I build one of my outdoor scenes. Just amazing.
Wow, Howie, that's just spectacular! Definitely getting it as soon as it comes out.
Roygee, the new Country Lanes 2 set renders reasonably fast for me, and I've got a pretty middle-of-the-road rig. Also, everything's set up really nicely out of the box.
