Content database question

Here's a question you probably don't stumble across too often....
In addition to using DAZ Studio, I also use a couple of computers for other pursuits. One of those machines is optimized for application development (it is my job, after all).
In that role, I am frequently called upon to build and maintain databases. Most of these databases use one of the two major database engines -- SQL Server and Oracle; occasionally, however, the task dictates something different: MySQL, FileMangler -- oh, pardon me, FileMaker! -- or even PostgreSQL.
So, here's my question: if I install PostgreSQL (version 9.6.1, if it matters) on my application-development machine, will I run the risk of bollixing my DAZ Content Management System database? And if so, what steps, if any are possible, should I take to minimize that risk?

Well, I've never looked into the DAZ Studio PostgreSQL dB but it does seem to be running a listener and have data file in your user AppData area on Windows but anyway; no, the configuration process should ask you to configure your own dB and the listener for that database and when it does you make sure you don't choose the DAZ Studio dB.
Maybe a DAZ developer will happen a long this thread & clarify or you can ask the question in the DAZ Studio discussion thread about the latest DAZ Studio beta.
Yeah, that's why I posted here; I was pretty much counting on that...!
There are also a few other questions I'd like to pose with respect to that database -- like how to maintain, administer, and generally do things with the data that the DAZ developers would be totally aghast at if they ever found out what I'm up to! (But you didn't hear that from me...!)
Try PM'ing Kendall Sears, I know he has PostgreSQL for bath DS and software development purposes (as well as a mix of OSes) so he'll know any pitfalls to avoid.
I have Postgres 9.5 and PgAdmin III installed on Windows 7 64 with Daz 4.9 and its never been an issue. Daz's older versions of the same seem to be neatly seperated in their own world and run their own seperate process.
