nVidia and Pascal

I've been dithering and dithering since the announcement of the 10x range of gfx cards, then dallied whilst drivers get released and it now looks like stuff may be moving out of beta status soon (I can't believe I just said 'soon' ... cheeky)  My preferred supplier (from whom I bought my current very, very nice laptop) are offering 10x cards, but they also offer a "12GB NVIDIA TITAN X (The Ultimate, Pascal Edition)".  I am pretty sure (having checked the nVidia site) that is this is, indeed, a Pascal-based card, but how does it stand with the 10x series?  I'm guessing it's 'merely' an extension of it and any and all drivers and use of the card in Daz Studio and Iray (and Octane and LuxRender) would be, technically, the same as a 'normal' 10x.

Before I stump up the equivalent of an arm and a leg for the beast is that actually the case?  If so, it may be a while before I take the plunge as I need to berate them for dropping the option of having Win 8 installed, but retaining the option of Wn 7!!!!  I'll be damned if I'm going to have Win 10 on it, regardless, and until a week aho Win 7, 8.1 and 10 were all options.

  • As far as I am aware pascal-support covers all pascal cards, it isn't just the 10x0 series.
