Is my GPU broken ?
It happend during rendering last night. The scene size is within GPU limits and rendering process was working well.
After about 2,5 h my laptop was going to become noisy and "hot" ( GPU-Z shows 71° C which should be in the range ) and after 15 min more rendering stopped suddenly.
Attached is a simple test scene with a default shaded g3m and a sphere where I have aplied an Iray shader on.
I was surprised, that 3Dlight does not convert the Iray shader of the sphere, but probably it is normal.
The main issue is the rusult of Iray rendering since it does not show up anything ... Any Ideas ?

What does the log file show - Help>Troubleshooting>View Log?
Log File 1 = 3Dlight render
Log File 2 = Iray
Does the iRay render work if you check the CPU in the Advanced tab of Render Settings? Does the system report the GPU as working in Device Manager?
screenshot 1 = just opend the "advanced tab" ... nVidia Card is not there anymore. rendered the scene with the given parameters
screenshot 2 = I changed to CPU
Iray is not finding a rendering device, but it may simply be a matter of a driver crash. Power down everything and restart. Don't even do a soft reset -- turn your laptop off, then back on again. Try again to see if that changes anything.
no, made a complete restart but unfortunately GPU is not there anymore, ...
What does Device Manager say about the video?
Do you have auto-updates on for drivers?
yes my system do auto update. To be on the save side I did a driver update manuelly too.
According to device manager the card works correct
What driver version are you using?
it is 21.21.13.7306
Try rolling back to a previous version of the driver...
well, driver version 21.21.13.6909 from Aug. 1st brought it back. Thanks for your support mjc1016 !!
I did a quick Google search on that driver version and saw a lot issues with various games, so I figured it would be worth a shot to roll it back. Glad it worked for you.
fortunately this did not happen to me at the very beginning. I would have stopped DS project immediately, just thinking I dont have suitable hardware :-)
Take care !
