Directory Structure for Zip File Installs

I've been out of this for a while, so I need a little help.  When I download a zip file from Renderosity, where do I drop the Runtime files, for Daz3D?  In the folder that is in the My Documents folder, or within the Daz Studiom file structure on Program Files?  I dropped the runtime for a Colony Lander into the Daz3D folder in My Documents and can't find it when I load up Daz Studio 4.9.  I've looked in the "Lost and Found" folder, Vehicles, and other locations in Studio and can't find it.  Thanks.

When you go into Content Directory Manager and expand the Poser format to see a list of mapped foldesr, your Runtime folder should be within one of these folders, at that top level. For example if you have "C:\whatever\Runtime...etc."   then you should have "C:\whatever" listed as a a Poser format folder in Content Directory Manager.

All content is packaged differently.  When you unzip the zip files from Renderosity or anywhere, you might need to rearange them.  Sometimes the Runtime is right at the top level, sometimes you'll have to go into a subfolder and move it up a level or two, sometimes (thankfully much less often) there won't even be a Runtime folder and you'll have to create your own poser file format structure (or add to an existing one) and move files around.  Same idea for DAZ Studio formats, exept of course the folders aren't called "Runtime" and you'll be looking in the native DS content list in the Content Directory Manger.

    1. Since Windows Vista one should NEVER place 'content' in the Program Files folders.  It should be placed in the user profile, generally My Documents.

    2. If it is a 'Poser' format item (file in the Poser Runtime structure, only) then it will be found in your Content Library > Poser Formats > <whatever it is...Figure/Prop/etc>

    3.  Make sure that you have MERGED the contents of the Runtime folder in the zip file with the contents of the Runtime folder in My Documents.

  • Thanks everyone.
