A couple of questions.

1) I am zeroing a G3F figure then I am trying to apply a pre-made pose to it. The figure seems to make it halfway then stays in this "half" position. I have tried zeroing the figure with limits on and off to no avail. This is not isolated to one figure in the scene either. Is there anything else I can try? Could it be something in the scene?

2) I am finding that certain products that I import with DAZ Connect are not updating properly and are in the Updates tab in Smart Content everytime I check, even if I have updated them. I have updated metadata, deleted them and re-installed to no avail. Is there something that I am missing?

3) I have tried rendering a couple of scenes and have ended up with the figures in the scene having the shader/texture of another nearby (inanimate) object (yes I see the irony in that). I have tried using different objects however the figures still pick up other shaders/textures. Any suggestions?

I will upload some pics this afternoon when I get back from *shudder* work if that would help.

  • 1) Zero>Zero Figure, or Zero>Zero Figure Pose? If the latter, it may indicate that there's a parameter not set as Modifier>Pose affecting the joints

    2) Is this in the beta, in which I have seen the same thing, or the release?

Thanks for the reply Richard. I zeroed both figure and figure pose. With the parameter do you mean on the figure or a global parameter? I have ten figures in the scene and they all seem to be affected.

This is the release. v4.9.2.70 Pro Edition (64-bit)

Below is the render with the issue I mentioned above.

  • On 1), what (if anything) is listed in Currently Used in the Parameters pane after zeroing?

For 2) I'm not sure what to suggest - others have seen this, but I haven't in versions before the beta (and can still complete the stuck updates in 4.9.2.70). Try completely uninstalling the item, restart DS, and reinstall (as long as you aren't on a metered connection, at least).

    3) is weird, and not something I have seen before.

    1) Render SubD Level (Minimum) set at 1, Bone Edge Opacity 0.0%, Bone Fill Opacity 0.0%, Fit to Erin..., Collision item Erin... (Ahhh could this be it?)

    2) I'll give it a go - nothing to lose.

    3) When I render the same scene in 3DL I get the white figure syndrome.

I uninstalled the products (3), restarted DS, reinstalled them and then installed the update. No change - they are all still showing the update icon in the top RH corner. Beats me!

What if I delete it from the \My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\ directory on my hard drive? Does that effect re-installing?

Edit: I'll try it with a freebie which is also having the same issue.

  • Interesting result. When I opened DS again it was there in the list still so I uninstalled it, closed DS and reopened it. It was then showing in Available rather than Updates. However, once installed it will not take the update. When I update the metadata I get an error message - Metadata update failed. 422 items succeeded, 3 failed. Which I was getting before. So for some reason these three are failing each time I open DS.

  • Question 1 has now been solved and I don't want to talk about it! ;)

  • Failed metadata is probably not related - a few items do have errors in the metadata still and when you do a refresh (or each time you connect) DS will trip over it. You can find out which products are affected by looking in your log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View log).

  • Thanks, you were right it is three different products which are causing the metadata failures.
