Is there a way to change the Default Render settings?

I would love to change the default settings for the Render Settings.  In the Progressive Render settings I would like it to have it default to have the Max Times set to either 0 or 28,800 and the Rendering Converged Ratio set to 90%.  As it is I have to remember to change the settings every time but it would be a great help and time saver to have those be the defaults when I start a new render.  I'm not sure if these are settings that could be changed in config files or registry entries.

I can think of two options for you.

    1) You could set the render settings the way you want them and save an empty scene which you then set as your startup scene in preferences. Set the scene for both "on launch" and "on new". Then everytime you start Daz Studio or create a new scene, it will start with the one you specified in preferences. You can also load lights, cameras, etc. in the scene before you save it, if you want every scene to start with that content. I start with a default camera and a headlamp blocker.

    2) You could set the render settings the way you want them and then save a render settings preset which you could apply every time before rendering. This would not be loaded by default, but would group all the settings together so you would only have to apply one setting instead of going through and setting each individual render setting. When you save the render setting, you could specify that it should only save the Max Times and Convergence Ratio and not change anything else.

  • Bugger.  I was hoping there was a more permanent solution.

The  Default Scene option (#1 from barbult) is a permanent solution. You can simply create a blank scene; no lights, camera, etc, set your preferred Render settings and save the scene. Then proceed as barbult described. You'll be set for all new scenes / or when Studio opens. While you're in Preferences, make sure to save render settings, then any changes for a specific scene will be saved as well.
