Morphing a modified character in ZBrush

Hello everyone!

I have looked all over and I can't seem to find the answer to this question, so hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction! I think my problem is I don't know how to ask my questions in a 'search engine friendly' way'!

I have a character that I've spent a bunch of time adjusting in Daz. I have him saved as a 'scene subset' so that I can recall him quickly. He's got hair, horns, a tail, all his textures and shaders in place, etc.

I'm trying to send him to Zbrush to tweak a couple of things and make a morph to the main body of the G3F mesh. Everything goes fine, I lower all of his subdivisions, turn off smoothing, export into Zbrush, make my tweaks, so far so good.

Regarding the tweaks I make: I'm not adding or deleting any geometry... I'm not even using smooth. I just push and pull some verts using the Move or Move Topological brush to alter the shape a little. Pretty mild morphs.

Here's the problem: When I send the morph back to Daz, I get a GoZ Import Options dialogue that says:

'The topology of the object has changed. The object cannot be updated.'

It then gives me the option of creating a new object.

When I do this for clothing items or props, it gives me the option of updating the object, I name the morph, and that's that.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Is it because the character is already pretty heavily morphed?

Thanks!!

  • Is anything other than the base figure, with moprhs, appearing in the ZBrush tool? If the horns or tail are coming over that is the issue.

  • I'll bet that's the problem! I'll check it out and let you know... thanks!

  • Awesome! That was the problem... so glad I asked, and I really appreciate your help, Richard!
