My votes are 2,4,5 and HM 13

All were wonderful.  I put additional weight on the way that dynamic hair was used.  Stezza, the comet tail was very creative.

    Voting is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to the voters.  An announcement will be made shortly.

Namtar, by tradition the winner hosts the next challenge, but this is NOT a requirement.  As a new participant, if you do not want to host the next challenge, just let us know.  If you would like to host, be thinking of a theme (like anachronism) and whether you'd have a skill requirement (like dynamic hair).  You can browse themes and requirements of prior challenges in a sticky thread at the top of the Carrara forum.  If you choose to coordinate, don't make any announcements until we communicate with our Daz contact for this one.

Congrats  Namtaryes, 5th Elementyes, Mistyyes and Vyusuryes... fantastic creations with lots of inspiration!

Thank you all for your votes, my first win of anything 3D and am really chuffed! I really really enjoyed this one and seeing the workups of all the other entries and certainly learned several new things. It has pushed me to get cracking again with Carrara.

Thank you, Diomede, for all your patient help. You are always generous with your time and sharing knowledge all across the forum. You should get a 'host with the most' prize!

Thank you, Naomi, I love your hair products and have several...and  just added another and hope you continue to create them. Can't wait to see the structure of Diversity. You and Phil should open a big salon with a collection. Oh yes please!

    Cheers  yesheart  Silene

Diomede, thank you very much for the help and support!
It was very interesting and useful experience for me! Hope, Carrara contests will take place again.

  • Congrats ya all, well played guys, it was fun, as usual smiley

Diomede, I did not get any messages yet, did you forgot to add me ?

Ooops.  Very sorry.  A person with the username 5th element (as opposed to FifthElement) now thinks is a winner in the Carrara challenge.  Please check again.  There are also a couple of people with other spellings of fifth and elemental.  Go figure.

Please, all winners, check for messages to make sure I did not make any other goofs.  Everyone should have gotten their PM with instructions.

Hooray!  Congrats to the winners!  Everyone did very excellent work and everyone is a winner.  A round of Soda and Ale for all!

Vyusur,  Keep a look out in the main Carrara Discussion... I'm thinking there will likely be a new Carrara Challenge right after Christmas.

As always I'm never "in it to win it" but to learn more about using Carrara and it's many tools and features... too many that I've either overlooked or put off for waay too long. There is a lot of power under Carrara'a hood... why not lean how to harness it.

Thanks also to the mighty diomede for hosting such a cool Challenge... I finally learned how easy it is to use the Hair Room which I call the Carrara Salon.

    Happy Holidays!

Hi Dio... I put the stuff in the cart, and I also took a snapshot of the cart and emailed it to you. Now when I look at the cart, a lot of the items have gone up in price. Guess some of the offers/deals have ended since I did the cart earlier today... but what do we do about that?

Not used to winning anything LOL, there is probably a work-around!!

    yes Silene

Sorry, Silene.  The changing sales during this week are going to reek havoc on cart prices.  Hate to say it, but if you are now above the prize limit, then you need to make an adjustment.  That happened to me last time.  Ultimately, it might be solved by Daz giving you store credit for the prize amount, and then you processing the rest of the cart - but we should follow directions.  You do NOT have to worry about the price of the item from Naomi's store.  That is separate. The faster we turn these in, the more we can minimize price surprises.

    Very warm Congratulations to All!

And a warm Thank You to Naomi and Daz3D for sponsoring this most excellent event!

It's really wonderful to take the time to go through the WIP notes for these challenges and watch the growth of the whole thing - such a friendly community challenge - with contestants helping constestants and inspiring one another... it's a magical thing - a Carrara thing!

    Great contest Diomede! You ROCK!!!

OK, am only posting publicly to find out how to avoid this for others especially at this double duty sales time stuff... if the prices change daily, when will the carts be processed so I don't fill the cart until that day? Will that help?  It was all OK this morning.... just need to know when they will be processed or we will be chasing our tails!!

    ty  heart.  congrats to everybody!!

learned a lot in this challenge, a bit about hair and lens flares

  • DiomedeDiomede Posts: 15,165

Yes, you are right, Silene.  Just do the best you can.

And when I say that ultimately it might be solved by Daz giving store credi for the prize amount (separate from Naomi's sponsorship), I literally mean that is a very likely outcome.  However, this is sponsored by Daz and we are supposed to be awarded Daz Originals, not one of the PA's items (unless their item is joint with Daz Original).  They want to see Daz Oriignal items in the cart up to the prize amount.   It might be an accounting thing, or a contract thing with the PAs, or whatever.  In any case, I think our Daz contact would like to see an intent to buy Daz originals up to the prize amount before awarding store credit.  If the prices rise the same day, we just have to deal with it the best we can.  In early challenges, the chosen items just magically appeared in our product download list, but recently I think the trend has been to use store credit.  I don't have much experience placing or winning so can't say when the practice changed.

A lot of this is probably good to discuss publically so that future winners understand why it is important to process these relatively quickly.  The other winners have items in their cart that could be changing prices if one winner delays submitting choices.  The Christmas sales create price problems in the extreme, but future challenges are likely to have the same issue to some degree.

Good question.  I guess I should have said to fill your cart now, and we will submit now, but the result might be that you get $25 store credit but your cart may have gone from $24.50 to $28.00 and you have to adjust accordingly.

Of course, just being a pessimist.  Your cart could be $24.50 and you get $25 store credit, and prices drop so that your cart only costs $19.  You would still have the store credit as far as I know.  If they do it this way.  They could return to the magic download list method.

Just to make sure I did not bury the lead, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention winners need to send me a message with...

    * Daz username -

    * Email associated with Daz Username -

    * Total Prize Amount -

    * List of Daz original store items and their SKU numbers up to the prize amount at the time you send me the list -

    * Identify one item from Naomi's store and label it as Naomi's and provide its SKU number -

We will deal with changing prices the best we can, but much, much, much better to submit to Daz while dealing with it.

And put the items in your cart while we wait.

...and once the information gets to Britney at Daz3d, she puts it through fast. So if this whole process is being done during Daz3d business hours and it all goes to Daz right away, the transaction will be quick. Back to Sale Shopping as usual!

Speaking of which, I should really send Britney a Christmas present for being so wonderful!
