PMD files and morph injections

I have an old prop that was made for Poser 7.  It uses .PMD and .pp2 files. The prop loads into DAZ fine, however, none of the morphs work.  Reading on the forums I found, 'by default PMD injections are broken in DAZ'.  Does that mean they'll never work or rather there is a way in the settings to on usage of pmd morph injections or is there a way to convert the file to something daz can or will read? I saw a link to a program in another thread here, however, the link was dead.

First the InjectPMD plugin will not work in the current version of Studio, it only works in DS 3.

Some pmds, that are called by a cr2 file may work...but not ones from other files (pz2 or pp2).  Prop files could possibly be made to work  if converted to a figure (cr2)...but that's not particularly easy or a sure-fire proposition.

The two 'best' ways involve either using Poser or DS 3, with the plugin.

I'm not quite sure of the specific process for using Poser, but you load the item, inject the pmds then save it out again making sure you don't have it set to generate pmds (yes, it makes a much larger figure/prop file as all the morphs are now written into it).

Using the plugin in DS 3 is basically the same thing as doing it in Poser.

I've seen numerous, but vague references to this topic. Thanks for finally describing in terms I can work with!

Thank you. I have a copy of old Poser thankfully. Guess it's time to dust it off.

    Poser Quick and Dirty:

Edit > General Preferences > Misc. > Turn on "Use External Binary Morph Targets"

    Load your prop

Check to see if the morphs work

Turn off "Use External Binary Morph Targets"

    Save a new copy.
