Kenjutsu comes with a scabbard, stand, maintenance kit, and some authentic kendo poses for Generation 4 and Genesis.
Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' better than a carbon steel katana named 'Kirigirisu'! Oh and if you pick up Kenjutsu before the 2nd January, you get a 30% discount off all my Asian themed sets!

Ohh.. nice. How much can I get for trading in my old katana ;p
Ah but if you have them both you get to dual wield them! ;-)
Beautiful work btw :)
Thanks Gedd! :)
I should add that if you pick up Kenjutsu before the 2nd of January you get a 30% discount off all my Asian themed sets!

Why do these discounts always show up after I've bought them? :D
Love the sword though. I'm doing a huuuge Edo-themed project at the moment so I'm snapping up pretty much everything I can find as it tends to be fairly scarce. I bought all three volumes of the Edo style towns, and both of the above listed products (it was a bundle deal). Long story short, I remain on the prowl for Japanese themed props and sets and also any Chinese style props set in the Three Kingdoms era. Like you said earlier, you can never have too many swords.
Thanks, it's based on my own katana, so it's the most detailed weapon set I've ever made :)
The discount has been there since the set went live, it even says it on the product page ;)

... but who reads the product page?
... "New stuff by Merlin! \(^_^)/... *dunk in cart*... *checkout*... *download*... *curse Magneto*..." ;-)
Banners with flashing lights and dancing girls it is next time then! lol
Looks good. It is in my wish list right now.
Would be cool to have some Niten Ichi-ryū poses for it , since using two weapons was mentioned.
Now that would have been a great idea! One for next time...

Oh gawd - hate those at RMP >_<... also seems to be somewhat at odds with the serenity of your products (-h-)... perhaps a nice soothing rock garden or koi in a pond banner? ;-)</p>

I can almost hear the accompanying koto music playing in the background...I don't want to send everyone to sleep though! Maybe a Dragon Dance would be more appropriate! ;-)
Ah I see, yes that would amount to a lot of unused real estate :)
Get 30% off these weapon sets too when you pick up Kenjutsu...and be armed to the teeth with exotic weaponry!

Hey folks.
Not sure if I was supposed to necro this thread or start another one, but I am using this product and I am having a little bit of an issue.
I've had the Kenutsu Sword for a few weeks and I love it. It's just a gorgeous model and I like the stand and other props, too. In fact, I am planning to use it as the main weapon for the starring character of a digital web-comic I hope to start producing next year (when I have all the props I need, the story finished, etc).
Now to the problem: if you look at the images of the product posted here, the black scabbard and stand have this beautiful, glossy sheen to them. But when I render them in DAZ, they just look completely flat black. I have tried this with no lighting at all, with splotlights, with distant lights, and with uber area lights. I get roughly the same result every time.
I've tried playing around with the glossiness, reflection, refraction, etc, and although I can make the scabbard and stand look "less black," I can't get the lovely lacquered black, shiny look that is shown in the OP image. I can only assume I am doing something wrong either with the lighting, the render settings, or perhaps something else, but I am at a loss to figure out what.
Any help would be appreciated. And if this belongs in a different thread, if a mod will let me know I will delete this and post it somewhere else.
Thanks.
Merlin, I am buying this....but, I must ask.
Would you please, if you could find it in your heart, make a full set of Samurai armor that works with M4, Genesis and G2M?
I will buy you a beer.... or the beverage of your choice.
... oh.... and I will buy it. :)
Hey Steve,
To get simular results on the stand and saya, you will need to go to the surface tab and turn on reflections and you will also need something for it to reflect such as an environment. Spec settings will be something else to watch for but that will be dependant on your lighting.
Hope this helps.
Thanks. I realized I needed stuff to reflect and I had tried that, but I hadn't turned on reflections. I didn't even notice they weren't on (duh). I will try it and see if that fixes it.
Thanks for the help.
