Why when I create new surfaces for DAZ Seal from the skin surface are the polygons assigned to the innermouth getting deleted even though the seal's moth is completely shut & I'm not able to select the innermouth anyway?
This has happened 2 times now when I am trying to create new surfaces for the DAZ Seal.

How are you selecting them?
1st I selected the Face Groups for the front & back. left & right flippers and assigned those to a new surface called flippers. That removed those polygons from the skin surface which they were part of.
2nd I selected via <ctrl>-LMB polygon clicking the nose polygons and assigned to new surface called nose.
3rd I did the same for the eyelids
4th the ears
I did turn on use symmetry at some point.
And then I notice innermouth surface has 0 polygons assigned and also that the flippers also had 0 polygons assigned.
OK, so I've figured out that when you select polygons and assign to a surface, after assigning to that surface they remain selected so in that case I reselected the flipper Face Groups and reassigned to the flippers surfaces and then delected those polygons by clicking the - (minus) sign in the Geometry editor.
I never could figure out how any of the innermouth surfaces got selected though - I'm assuming the innermouth surfaces somehow got reassigned to another surface group by accident after it got selected by accident.
I deleted the model & have started again. I am trying to remember to pay attention to the polygons assigned to the innermought surface each step of the way this time.
Yeah, they stay selected until you unselect them.
As to how they got there in the first place...you either, like you are suspecting, accidentally did it...or they were misassigned in the first place. It wouldn't be the first time that some polys were not correctly assigned in older products.
OK, thanks. I'll just have to open the mouth and watch for them to turn yellow while I'm selected other polygons I suppose would be the easiest way to notice.
Yep...
