DAZ UPDATE destroyed my interface - Cannot find how to reinstall update

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/139011/update-changed-the-look-of-daz-and-nothing-works-anymore-solved

I have this same problem. He says he reinstallted the update and it works now.

How do you reinstall the update? There are no manual links for this.

Install manager has no record of it running it, it's not in the manifest files, nothing appears in 'files installed', etc, etc.

Log into your store account, go to your Product Library > sort by Name, then Daz Studio 4.9.  There you will find the manual installer link.

That's the full program. not the update. He said he reinstalled the update. If I reinstall the program won't that destroy all my work up until now? That absolutelty cannopt occur.

  • I just looked, the update is the full program.  I still haven't figured how to get the DM to reinstall it though and I'm pretty sure mamually replacing all the files is the wrong way to go about it.  The update is IM00013176-02_DAZStudio49Win64bit.zip

  • OK, what happened with me is the DAZ Studio 4.9 stayed in the "Ready To Intsall" column, take a look there and see if you can find it.  When I reinstaled, everything came up properly.

  • Well I took a chance and reinstalled - things seems to be fine now,. Now I need to go lay down :(

I know you already solved it but I still wanted to provide some extra context. If you re-install Daz Studio then this won't directly involve your own data. So your renders, your content libraries and your settings... For the simple reason that your data is stored in a different place than Studio itself. For example: on my PC DS resides in d:\program files\Daz 3D\DazStudio4. My content library sits on d:\media\Daz 3D Library. While my data directory which contans all my settings, presets, etc. sits on C (C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4).

So even if I re-install Daz Studio it wouldn't directly affect anything in those data directories.

A little caution is always a good thing, but you don't have to worry too much about a re-installation removing all your data.

Another little bit...with Studio there are NO UPDATES.  It is ALWAYS the full program that is installed/reinstalled, not an update.  Yes, it is an updated version, but there is no incremental update/patch/etc versions.

To reinstall from DIM you first need to uninstall.  Find Studio in the Installed tab, check it and Start Queue.

  • Good to know. Thanks everyone for helping with my hando-wringing meltdown :)
