I have so far managed to export a complete V4 model from Carrara to MSP via FBX format, that MSP can open directly, without any plugins. Screenshots to follow...
There seems to be problems with multiple objects, loosing the transformation data.
For example the preset Indoor/desk, most parts are in the wrong position, not sure how to join all meshes and still keep the textures.
The other path is the Blender plugin, going from Carrara via OBJ to Blender to MSP, as described here:
