Iray skydome is not visible in the DAZ Studio ViewPort.

How can I get the Iray skydome image to appear in the DAZ Studio ViewPort pane?  When using 3Delight, a skydome image is always visible in the ViewPort, but when using Iray, the skydome image only appears in final renders.  I tried setting the ViewPort to Nvidia mode, but that has no effect.  I depend on the skydome image in the ViewPort to properly compose a scene.

Any advice on how I can resolve this issue?

    Do you have Draw Dome turned on?

    @Colin

    AFAIK, you can't make the Iray HDRI visible in the Viewport. You can do partial renders for positioning. If you don't close the initial partial render, your subsequent ones will be faster because the textures, geometry etc are alrady loaded in memory.

    Thanks for the feedback.  Yes, Fishtales, Draw Dome is set to ON.

    A marketplace product named "Iray Worlds SkyDome" somehow gets around this issue and correctly displays the SkyDome in the ViewPort pane during preview when nVidia mode is selected.  When I load that product, however, it DOESN'T seem to make use of the Iray "Enviroment" settings - very strange!  The settings are all at default values without an enviroment image for the dome, yet the Dome displays correctly in the ViewPort preview pane.

    Somehow, I'd like to figure out how Magix 101, the author of "Iray Worlds SkyDome" accomplishes the trick for HDRI SkyDome images.

    There is no "skydome" in Iray. I think you mean environment dome, but because you're using a different term that applies to 3DL and not Iray, there can be confusion in the terminology.Because the environment dome is a virtual feature of Iray and not D|S, it doesn't show in the view port unless you choose the NVIDIA Iray render option. This part should be working.

    The Iray Worlds SkyDome product doesn't use the environment dome, and appears to place images onto a geometry. It may use some techniques previously discussed in the forums for displaying an image on the surface of the dome, while still letting light through. If this product does indeed use this technique, you can read about it here in various threads about using 3DL skydomes with Iray; do a Google or Bing search to find them.

    For your problem of not being able to see the Iray environment map, it would be helpful if you posted a screen snap of viewport with this option selected. Also note the version you are using, including the full build if it's one of the 4.9 betas.

    Thanks for the feedback Tobor and Fishtales, I appreaciate your suggestions.  Yes, I'm just beginning to use Iray with DAZ Studio, and terminology is confusing between Iray and 3Delight.  I will continue to experiment with Iray and post again if I have any problems providing the information you requested.
