How do you get clearer Eyes in IRAY?

My eyes seem to be foggy, they don't popout.  Am i doing something wrong? All i did is have my eye material and that's it. Do i have to remove the Eyesurface or something to make the eye look more colorful

I have found the same problem with eyes, also found that setting base color and translucency color to (1.0, 1.0, 1.0) and turning translucency and top coat to off improves the appereance.

As for the cornea and eye moisture I use water thin.

I don't have the translucency color option in my Surfaces tab  and i dont' see the translucency and top coat OFF buttons.

Also, what body part are you doing these settings for?

And you said "As for the cornea and eye moisture i use water thin". Is there a moisture option in the surface tab for Cornea and Eye?

Also i want to say that in my Gen 2 characters there is no EYE. There is only Cornea and Eye Reflection, Eye Lashes, and Sclera, Pupils, Lacriminals. So where do i set these settings to?

and to see iray shader options you need to apply the iray uber base

Yes i applied the iray uber base to all surfaces yet i don't see TRANSLUCENCY COLOR,  there is no  translucency and top coat OFF buttons.,

and he said ""As for the cornea and eye moisture i use water thin". I wonder what he applies Water Thin to?  To The cornea only?

These are the surfaces i have:

Ears, Eyelashes, EyeReflection, Face, Feet, Fingernails, Forearms, Gums, Hands, Head, Hips, InnerMouth, Irises, Lacriminals, Legs, Lips, Neck, nipples, nostrils, pupils, Sclera, Shoulders, Tear, Teeth, Toenails, Tongue, Torso

I want to show you an image of one eye. looks terrible. It's supposed to be a brown eye, but the iris looks black. Moreover it doesn't look clear the way jag11 does. In this example the cornea and eye parts use Default DAZ studio shader cause i used eye MATS that were not iray. But still even when i use the iray mats it make no difference.

Moreover it seems like there is a piece of thick glass over the eye. too much

You have to convert eye material to Iray, default shaders apply those weird settings.

    To apply Iray materials:

    1. Select your figure.
    2. Select the Surfaces tab.
    3. Select Presets Tab | Shaders | Iray | !Iray Uber Base.
    4. Select Edit.

Once you have your materials converted you'll find the translucency and top coats sections.

Chech out the properties for materials:

    • Cornea
    • EyeMoisture
    • Irises
    • Pupils
    • Sclera

Thanks Jag but i'm not sure if our characters are the same(Genesis 2 here) because i did what you told me on how to apply Iray materials. For the Cornea, The only translucency thing is Translucency Weight. There is no Translucency color NOR is there a Translucency OFF switch.  There is also no Top Coat OFF switch, only a Top Coat Weight.  And i don't have an EyeMoisture thing.

The face does have Translucency color and some more TOp Coat stuff , but still no TOp Coat OFF switch nor Translucency OFF switch.

Are you using Genesis 3 or something? I use Genesis 2

Ok, then. I was using a G3 figure, so you will not have EyeMosture material under surfaces tab.

To turn Translucency off, you have to set Translucency Weigth to 0.0

To turn Top Coat off, you have to set its weight value to 0.0

You have to apply Thin Whater Preset  to Cornea.

If your character's eyes are still too dark, maybe the textures' gamma is wrong. Adjust it to 1.8 or 1.4.

    To adjust textures' gamma.

Click on the texture, select Image Editor, and set your desired value.

It will depend on which Base Mixing is selected as to which dials are showing.

Lighting is also going to make a differenc to the 'clearness' of the eyes.
