Help - Cat World Regenesis HD - Bundle
I have had this bundle for a while and it is fully installed but haven't used it until now.
For both the DIM and DS, I have set all of my install paths to a specific drive and directory instead of the defaults. As a result, when I load the LAMH version of one of the cat people into my scene, I get a notification that the LAMH files can't be found and lists a directory on the C drive. It seems the LAMH files are specific-path coded.
Is there a way to edit the necessary files so they can load from their current location without me having to have them on the C drive. I do NOT want any of those files on the C drive.
Also, please take into account, when explaining things to me, that I know nothing of the codings in files for DS.

Is this the message you are getting?
I get the same - but if I reply "OK" the cat people still seem to render correctly for me. I get those 3 files created automatically in my documents folder (which is also not on my C-drive but on my E-drive) as soon as the character loads. So looks like the vendor has accidentally left some hard-coded filenames from his machine in the .duf files for those products, which is technically an error but it doesn't seem to affect the final result for me at least.
Are you not getting the cat person loading at all? Or without the bright green guide hairs visible?
Edit to Add: Interesting, I got the above error messages in the current DAZ Studio version 4.6.3.166, but I don't remember ever seeing the messages before. So I tried it in DS 4.6 (which I still have installed) and no error messages come up there. The rendered result looks identical though.
I had the same error message with Street Rat, opened a ticket with DAZ, they confirmed it's a bug, and had a fixed version available in DIM a few days later.
MelanieL: Yeah, that's the message I get and I do click OK. While the character loads with the LAMH shell (the bright green hairs visible) in the work window, the LAMH doesn't render. (joking around) It sucks that the LAMH renders for you and not me lol.
I am using the latest DIM and DS.
1. What actually happens when you try to render - does it ignore the hair or not render the figure at all? Are you doing a 3Delight render or an Iray one? LAMH hair doesn't work directly with Iray renderer. (Although there is a way to make it work if you need advice on that)
2. Do you have the full LAMH product or just the Player? (I have the full version so there may be a difference there)
3. Do you have any other LAMH-based products you could try, and if so do they render OK?
I have to admit that I hadn't thought about the render engine as it is automatic for me to render in Iray. So, I rendered in 3delight and same results. The figure renders but without the hair. I have the free version and yeah, I do have big cats 2 so I'll give them a try. Just remembered them as I'm typing this.
Okay. I loaded one of the cats beside one of the Regenesis figures then rendered. The LAMH files for the cat rendered so I have a hairy looking animal but the LAMH files for the Regenesis figure didn't. To me, that says the LAMH files for the Regenesis figures is an absolute path and won't render them if those files are not in that exact location.
Now, I need to know what files I need to edit to change that absolute path because I do not want them on my C drive.
Well, I've opened a Help Request (bug report) about this - I found the error in 5 products that have LAMH presets so far. I hope they will fix the problem soon and provide updated installers.
Meanwhile, I would be interested to hear whether your version of LAMH is building the missing files like mine - do you have files called tmpbrickimage1, tmpbrickimage2 and tmpbrickimage3 in your LAMH folder - it will be on your PC in:
My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\lookatmyhairAM\maps
or does that location not even exist? The reason I ask is because my (full version) LAMH builds those files whenever I load one of these figures. If yours does not then maybe that's a difference in the LAMH Player (free version).
These files just seem to be used to colour the eyelashes of the figures - if they are not being created in your case you could try editing (in the Surfaces tab) the eyelashes in the LAMH Group to set the image to "None". I've attached 2 screenshots below showing where to edit. This might allow you to render successfully, though I can't promise it will work for you.
MelanieL: do keep me informed about the help request, please.
It seems my version of the LAMH Player doesn't appear to be building the missing files. Yes, I do have those files and yes they are in that directory but they are all white and not look like what your image shows. When I load one of the Cat World figures, the missing files are asking for the specific directory of ron which is the user name of the owner of the computer that created the files themselves. Yet, when I look at the eyelash, it reads my directory. but that still doesn't explain why 3Delight doesn't render the Cat world LAMH figures but does render the Big Cats 2 figures.
Sorry, that image isn't totally clear - my three files are all pure white (don't know why thay show that odd grey patterning in the screenshot - it happpens for very large images like HDRIs but these are only about 184x184 pixels). I should have clarified that the files themselves are pure white on my PC.
The fact that your Big Cats work correctly suggests that your LAMH Player is installed correctly, so I think we must have hit a difference between LAMH (full) and LAMH Player. I hope he DAZ folks will get a fix out soon.
I've not had any response yet on the help request, but I will let you know as soon as I hear anything .
Thank you, MelanieL. Hopefully, someone else who uses LAMH Player will have some possible suggestions.
Well there's been no further response to my Help Request, but I notice that new installer files have turned up in my DIM for the whole bundle. It's too late here for me to test them tonight (it's after 1 AM), but looking at one of the the .zip files the c:/users/ron/... references seem to have been removed. It may be worth you re-downloading and trying them out again.
Thank you for the update, MelanieL, I'll check them out.
