SubD question

Do I need the "SubDivision Level" paramater to be set to the desired amount to get my results in rendering or "Render SubD Level (minimum)" will do the same job by itself? The "Subdivision Level" setting is really making the scene heavy on resources before even rendering and I think its slowing my renders alot. Couldn't really find any explanation on the difference between the two paramaters.

  • Subdivision Level is used for the viewport and for export (which is how things like LuxRender get the model). Render SubD Level (minimum) is sued by iray, unless one or more of the surfaces on the mdoel has a higher Displacement SubDivision setting in whic case that is used for the whole model (hence the (minimum) in the name).

    Thank you very much! :)
