Where did the option for changing background color go to. I looked at where it would have been for 4.6 and it isn't there.

    Windows/Style/Customize style if you mean the viewport backdrop color.

    Which doesn't render - if you want to change the render background colour (when saved to a format that doesn't use an alpha channel) use Window>Panes(Tabs)>Environment.
