How to SEE DSON files or add to Content Library....

So I downloaded a large group of free clothing for Genesis 2.

Merged all the runtime's together, etc....

Inside the folders are all DSON (user) files, .DUF.

My research says they are indeed native Daz files. I'm interested in getting them in Daz as selectable Wardrobe items.

I can navigate to the files and right+click OPEN them, but the Content lIbrary, when navigated to the exact same folder (people/X/X/clothing/ *Item.DUF)

- the browser can't see the items.

- file/import can't see them either.

Any ideas how to get them into Daz without using file open?

I was hoping to make them another custome directory in the content librarie's other import formats.....

That seems to work for everything I download outside of the Daz store.

  • Where are you looking in the Content Library pane, and exactly where are the files installed?

Solved. They show up in DAZ Studio Formats/My Daz 3D Library/My Library/XX

Which is strange because that folder is empty. There must be more than one "My LIbrary" Folder.

I'm finding all kinds of stuff in this area. There's a ton of stuff I just figured never worked with the installer or Read Mes.

Excuse me while I go jump off this bridge.

    Thank you for the reply.

    * turning this sub-folder into a product so I can get access from the Smart Content Pane.

    Thanks

  • You should not have the inner My Library folder - that must have been in the zip. Using an OS file browser window you need to take everything out of that and merge it into the My Daz 3D Library, otherwise any textures or geometry will not be found.

Oh no. Trying to clean it up. Looks terrible.

My content library is called "My Daz 3D Library" in that,,,along with the needed files like

    Content - Data - Documentation - Environments - Runtime - Scenes Shaders - templates...

There's tons of other folders. Some look like product folders...this can't be right.

I wish there was an EXACT list of what's allowed and proper to be in here.

    Here's a pic.

That can't be right. Some of those look like product(s) files and should be somewhere in a sub-folder.

That "Content" folder shouldn't be inside your "My DAZ 3D Library" either.  Personally I feel the only things that should be in your "My DAZ 3D Library" is items you got from DAZ 3D, items from elsewhere should be given their own libraries named for the site they came from. A lot of the zips from other sites have extraneous main folders before you get to actual files and folders that should be installed.  I believe have quite a such zips that you extracted whole to your library.

Generation 4 figures that use ExP for morphs do need to have much of their content in the same library in order to work so they should be given their own library even if they are from DAZ 3D.

Awww damn. I'm looking at in. Some seem obvious. Like "Deviney" is Ron's Apocalypse, which are backgrounds. Those probably belong in Environment.

    It's static backdrops.

"Mestophales" has to do with the sedition soldier pack, Have no idea how that got there. rrrrrr
