Room Lighting Help

I wonder if anyone could direct me to a post - if there is one - regarding lighting. Specifically, indoor lighting and why I seem to only be able to light it dimly and if I do light it - it comes out grainy. Like I used 1600 iso film. I really want to use sunlight coming into a window but no matter what I do, I fail miserably. Even catastrophically!

The rooms I've been trying to light unfortunately, the walls are all closed in and I cannot remove one to let more light in.

Any suggestions or has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers

  • Noise is down to too little light, but once you have addersses that you may well need to adjust the Tone Mapping settings to get the level of exposure that you want - the defaults are for a bright day outside.

You can remove a wall or ceiling by using an Iray section plane. Otherwise you will need to put a spotlight outside the window. Even better the Iray Ghost Lights ( http://www.daz3d.com/iray-ghost-light-kit ) are well worth the price, particularly for folks struggling with lighting. There's a Ghost Lights support thread in Commons.

I purchased Ghost Lights. I have spent way too many days trying other options. Wish me luck!

No problem. Ghost Lights saves a bunch of set up and fiddling time and has great support from Kindred Arts.
