What are Poser Companion Files?

Hi,

just a quick question what to download if I only use DazStudio. I think I need the Companion files but not the DSON cores, is that right?

No, the other way around if you are using DS 4.5.

DS 4.5 uses the DSON core files, if you also want to use these in Poser you need the Poser CF as well. If you are using DS4, you need the Legacy files.

Other way around - DSON core is for DS 4.5, Legacy is for earlier versions of DS, Poser companion files are for Poser 9/2012+DSON Importer (they tell Poser where & how to find the DSON core files). So if you're on DS 4.5 just grab the DSON core.

    Ah, thanks.
I've only read that DSON is for Poser. So the naming DSON-core and Poser Companion isn't very intuitiv. Two references to Poser and none to Daz.

DSON = DAZ Scene Object Notation :)

DSON = DSON Importer for Poser = probably not for my DazStudio. That's what you get if you skip the fine print. :P And then you wonder why you have companion cubes in your downloadable files. :)
