Configuration Error

Daz Studio 4.9 Pro will no longer link up to my account. I'm getting the following message:

"Configuration Error

Configuration of the system has changed. To use content installed using Daz Connect, the content owner must re-authenticate"

Help!

I can help with this because it plagued me for months. I reported it late last year and was advised to log in through the Smart Content pane, rather than using Menu> Connect> Login. That worked for several weeks, then the message began to appear again. In early January, Tech Support told me to follow the steps outlined below, and I haven't seen the error since. It *appears* to be fixed completely. Below are the steps they gave me.

Please uninstall Daz Studio and the PostgreSQL. Then go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms and rename or remove the ContentCluster folder and the cmscfg.json file located there.

(If you can not see your AppData folder, type %appdata% in the Start menu and Windows will open the hidden folder.)

Once you have done that, reinstall first Daz Studio and then the PostgreSQL CMS (make sure you are not installing as Administrator). Then open Daz Studio and re-import metadata with the box checked that userdata overwrites product data.
To do this, right click on the Content Library pane, choose Content DB Maintenance, tick Re-Import Metadata, click Accept. Tick User Data and All Products and click Accept.

I was installing from the manually downloaded .exe, but if you're using DIM, it should be just the same process.

  • And what happens when you try to log in, from the opening dialogue or from the Connect menu?

  • And what happens when you try to log in, from the opening dialogue or from the Connect menu? Both. In the connect menu, 'login' is not highlighted.

Ok, thanks for the help. Bloody hell, this looks hideously complex and scary to a computer illiterate like me. :(

Actually, it's really easy. Basically all you do is uninstall DS (you should have that option in the Start menu), find the folder and delete it, then re-install DS.
