Grouping Gen 3 Characters takes a VERY long time

I'm building some complex scenes for a story which include 3-6 Gen 3 characters.  While I'm building I want to group the characters so I can move them around the scene, hide them, etc.

My question is this: why does it take over 5 minutes to create or delete the group, and over 2 minutes to simply add or remove a single character from the group?

My rig is decent: Intel i7 with 64G RAM, 2x Nvidia Titan X video cards, etc. I can get to 60% high quality iray render of the scene in less time than it takes to group or ungroup the characters.

I understand that part of the grouping is normalizing the location, which requires some calculation, but it seems excessive that it should take so long for so few characters.

Anyone have a quick fix or shortcut that can save time when working with groups of Gen3?

Is this bug-worthy, or just something we have to settle for...?

Thanks for your help!

Oh, has Daz confirmed that it is a bug?

  • Thank you, Serene Night -- do you know if it has been logged and is being worked on?  If not I can log a ticket to see that it gets tracked.

    Much appreciated!

I'm not sure. I do know that many forumites have this same issue with the newest version of DAZ. Seems like a bug to me.

When in doubt, file a ticket, I say. =-)
