Error Opening File

Hello, sorry if my problem has been probably already discussed in other threads...

I get the infamous message "Error Opening File" when I try to open a scene that it opened without any problem since yesterday. It says to me to see the log file, but it's just an endless sequence txt file. I tried to merge the whole scene in another one as alternative attempt, but I get the same message.

Any thought about what to do?

Thanks

Something would seem to be missing and that should be listed in the log file, which can get ong and contain a lot of verbiage!

I'd suggest starting Daz Studio, going to the log file, using Ctrl-A to selct all, then delete it and save the empty file.  Now open the scene with the problem and check the log file again.  It shoudl be much simpler to spot the issue now.

Ok, I did as you said and in the new log file I get this:

Json Parser (1926483,7): unexpected end of file in string

  • Unfortunately that sounds as if the file is damaged - had you saved over it since it was last working?

I overwrote any time I did some change in the scene

That probably means that the last save failed. In most cases this has been down to the compression failing as far as I have been able to tell, so I would suggest turning that option off but I would alsos trongly suggest saving inrementally - use File>Save as to save under a new name, or use http://www.daz3d.com/super-save to automate the process. In the meantime please open a technical Support ticket http://www.daz3d.com/help/help-contact-us attaching the scene file and the log file to report the issue - it's rare (fortunately) which makes it hard to track down, so any information that can be given to the developers is a boon.

Having made the report, if you have a way to get back to an earlier version of the file (Time Machine on Mac, File History in Windows 8+, or a rgular back-up) restore from that as none of the damaged files I have seen has been recovereable.
