Would loooooove to have an HD baby.

I would really love to see a high-quality, HD baby. Something that, when rendered, is as photo realistic as Victoria 7, and doesn't look creepy and weird.

Also, a diaper for that same baby. :)

There is a non-HD baby with diaper for Genesis (though you probably already know that). Are you thinking about an HD baby for G3F and G3M? There seems to be a gap in the market for Genesis 3 kids (HD or not) in the region 0 to 10 years old. Skyler and Rayn for G3F come in at about 11 to 12 years old or so (visually).

Exactly that. A dedicated HD baby for G3F or G3M, that looks photorealistic the way they do.

Most content vendors either don't want to create kids, or DAZ hasn't had ones submitted that they cared much for; ask me how I know. ;)

Hi daywalker, I take it that you had a character rejected or shelved? (Or know someone who did). Can you show a "promo" pic so we can see the "quality" of character that is required to pass (or not) the DAZ QC?

You know me well enough that I don't criticize unfairly :)

Well, here is one of the images I submitted last October. I'm still working on her so I can submit her again.

Very nice character. I would buy that one. She could also be a pal for Skyler and her crew. Very nice work. (I've seen characters not nearly as good for sale elsewhere)

I do have Skyler and Rayn for G3F, and the biggest problem I have with them is that they don't have separate head and body morphs. I just finished Nadiya's Full Body one, and have to do the head morph next, then do the one that makes them work together. Fun stuff.

  • Very nice work, daywalker03. Let me know if you ever make a baby! A 3D one, I mean. :)

I whole heartedly agree with you Daywalker. (Yep, sometimes it happens. ;) ). Since one of the recent DS upgrades it is possible to save out the head and it's morphs as a separate figure. Not the easiest of processes but it can be done. Richard H has (repeatedly, I believe) explained how to do this in the forums. (He must be a very patient guy.) However, honestly, how much extra work would it be for the PA to provide separate head and body morphs? Sure I fully understand that in some, perhaps many, cases the separate head morph will not match the original base figure very well. But hey.. at least having the head as a separate morph (figure), part of the work is done if you really want to put that head on your own figure. (we are talking about "for personal use only" here no reselling or other dodgy/illegal practices).

I'm looking forward to seeing your Nadiya character.

There seems to be an aversion to G3 children and infants from either Daz, the PAs or both.  At least one  PAs has already voiced their reluctance to creating such a figure for fear of how it might be used.  Still it hampers a lot of creativity.  I'd love to do more fantasy themed work with children that didn't look creepy ( and I'm sorry but most of the attempts I've seen by people trying to morph such a character look downright creepy to me; and especially when placed next to hyper realistically modeled figures).

This is probably going to end up happening by someone who teaches themselves modeling and just making one of their own.

Yes, please! HD babies and diapers! (And some cute clothes!)

@Sloshwerks made an awesome nursery, which we're filling with toon babies, but HD realistic ones would look great in it too!

I think a lot of it has to do with whether they want to do the "extra" work or not, as it's not really that hard to do.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Nadiya character.

I still have to work on her body textures and materials for Iray and 3Delight (have to try to keep as many folks happy as I can, right?) then I'll be submitting more images for DAZ to evaluate.

Very young children are likely a lot more work than older ones, like Rayn, Skylar, Tween Julie or Tween Ryan are. Or Nadiya and Niren, for that matter. And we also need to consider that the PAs likely don't, in general, do renders with kids in them so the don't miss the lack of them like other folks that want to do those renders do.

     Maybe. wink

I need to get that item to see how it looks.

"HD Baby" is definitely on very top of my figure wants. Please someone make it happen.

Yes, I still really want to see an HD baby. I've had clients ask for a baby, and I've had to tell them no. I'd love to tell them yes!

I looked at the AdamTWaits Genesis Baby and it is very good although I have no need for it now I have added to my wish list as it's be great to use in creating a Madonna & Child renders and so on. I'm not sure if an HD baby brings anything more but Genesis 3 model features would somewhat.

With Genesis 2 The Kids4 we can get some interesting results like this image I did for a contract (many more here : https://lucelieguillarme.wixsite.com/images ). But it's a shame that DAZ's users have to use those old tools as nothing else has been made since then to help us create 3D babies.

I barely worked on the face but I doubt one could get the facial traits of a newborn or ready to be born baby. But for a few months old baby it's acceptable. This was rendered using Keyshot as I barely ever used DAZ at the time and knew nothing about Iray.

I would love moar babies. I like them even though I have yet to render them too often. Bought all the ones at some other place and still want moar. Also baby hair is needed and baby expressions.

It's possible to get better results with DAZ iRay (SSS Shader). But Keyshot is so blazing fast that when you try it once you can never go back to DAZ Renderers.

I have that sixus1 baby and have used on some of my renders, but there is something very off putting on how it looks.

It's certainly not an infant.  I don't know if anyone can do an infant.  Maybe they just don't want to try.  Too bad.

I didn't get that one. For me the off-putting something is that it looks like the sad results of Zika Virus. I don't know if that was intentional.

  • Thanks for the info. But with bigger ears and a greenish color, this baby would be perfect as a Gremlin. Really off putting looks ;)

I did a ZBrush curve brush for the Umbilical Cord. Baby's a mix of Markus (Angel Wings), Baby Sam, Baby Samson and Tobyn. Looks much better than previous attempts.

    no nope no no
    babies are nightmare fodder.

  • Not sure about the babies themselves, but the nappies are nightmare fodder. I spent the Millennium moment on 1 Jan 2000 changing a baby's nappy by the light of the fireworks. That was VILE.
  • So, now a new baby is born a few days before with HD and a diaper but I can't find a threat about. Does nobody recognized? The promos look cute and this little baby-boy looks very realistic and far from something creepy. Has someone bought and tried it out yet? I wonder about some missing awwwws and wows...

I posted about him in the PA sale thread - am not totally sure yet whether I like him or not. I would love to see some renders, but until now, none have appeared. To me, there's something off-putting about him, especially the mouth. It looks too thick maybe, not very babyish. And the texture reminds me a lot of the lovely Deepsea toddlers which I already own. Soooo ... am really on the fence here. Some actual renders would be helpful.
